  • Power Input (220-230V~ 50Hz): Connect the supplied power cable to this socket and then to a grounded AC outlet.
  • Inputs (CH.A, CH.B):
    • XLR: For balanced audio signals from a mixer or preamplifier.
    • RCA: For unbalanced audio signals.
  • Outputs (CH.A, CH.B):
    • Speakon (1+ = +, 1- = -): For connecting loudspeakers. Ensure correct polarity.
    • Binding Posts: Alternative connection for loudspeakers, also ensuring correct polarity.
  • HPF (High Pass Filter) Switch: Selects the high-pass filter frequency for each channel.
    • 120Hz: Filters out frequencies below 120Hz.
    • 90Hz: Filters out frequencies below 90Hz.
    • Bypass: Disables the high-pass filter.
  • MODE Switch: Configures the amplifier's operating mode.
    • PAR (Parallel): Both channels receive the same input signal from Channel A.
    • STR (Stereo): Each channel operates independently with its own input signal.
    • BRI (Bridge): Combines both channels into a single, more powerful mono output. Use only with appropriate speaker impedance.
  • SENSITIVITY Switch: Adjusts the input sensitivity for each channel.
    • 1.4V: For higher input levels.
    • 26dB: Standard professional input sensitivity.
    • 0.775V: For lower input levels.

3.3 Connection Procedure

  1. Ensure the amplifier is powered off and unplugged.
  2. Connect your audio source (mixer, preamplifier) to the input jacks (XLR or RCA) on the rear panel.
  3. Connect your loudspeakers to the output jacks (Speakon or binding posts) on the rear panel. Ensure correct impedance matching and polarity.
  4. Set the HPF, MODE, and SENSITIVITY switches according to your system requirements.
  5. Plug the power cable into a grounded AC outlet.

4. Operating Instructions

Once connected, you can begin operating your amplifier.

4.1 Front Panel Controls

Image: Front panel of the Fame Audio MS 12002 Power Amplifier. This view shows the main power switch, individual channel level controls, and LED indicators for signal, clip, and protection.

  • Power Switch: Turns the amplifier on or off. Always turn on the amplifier last and turn it off first in your audio chain.
  • Channel Level Controls (CH.A, CH.B): Rotary knobs to adjust the output level for each channel. Start with these controls at their minimum position before powering on.
  • LED Indicators:
    • SIGNAL: Illuminates when an audio signal is present.
    • CLIP: Illuminates when the output signal is clipping (distorting). Reduce the input level or channel level to prevent clipping.
    • PROT (Protection): Illuminates if the amplifier enters protection mode due to overheating, short circuit, or DC offset.

4.2 Powering On and Off

  1. Ensure all channel level controls are set to minimum.
  2. Press the power switch to turn on the amplifier. The power indicator should illuminate.
  3. Gradually increase the channel level controls to the desired volume.
  4. When finished, reduce the channel level controls to minimum, then press the power switch to turn off the amplifier.

5. Maintenance

Regular maintenance ensures the longevity and reliable performance of your amplifier.

  • Cleaning: Use a soft, dry cloth to clean the exterior of the amplifier. Do not use liquid cleaners or solvents.
  • Ventilation: Periodically check that the ventilation openings are clear of dust and debris. Use a soft brush or compressed air to clean them if necessary.
  • Connections: Ensure all input and output cables are securely connected. Loose connections can cause signal loss or intermittent operation.
  • Storage: If storing the amplifier for an extended period, ensure it is in a dry, dust-free environment.

6. Troubleshooting

If you encounter issues, refer to the following common problems and solutions.

ProblemPossible CauseSolution
No powerPower cable unplugged; Power outlet faulty; Amplifier fuse blownCheck power cable connection; Test power outlet; Consult qualified service personnel for fuse replacement.
