Introduction
This manual provides essential instructions for the safe and efficient operation of your ViaAqua 200 Watt Titanium Heater. Please read all instructions carefully before installation and use to ensure proper function and longevity of the product, as well as the safety of your aquatic environment.
Safety Instructions
- Always unplug the heater from the power outlet before performing any maintenance, cleaning, or handling the heater or other equipment in the aquarium.
- Ensure the heater is fully submerged in water before plugging it in. Operating the heater out of water can cause damage to the unit and pose a fire hazard.
- Do not operate the heater if the cord or plug is damaged. If the heater malfunctions or shows signs of damage, discontinue use immediately.
- This heater is designed for indoor use in aquariums only. Do not use it for purposes other than its intended use.
- Keep the power cord away from sharp objects and hot surfaces.
- Ensure a drip loop is formed with the power cord to prevent water from traveling along the cord and reaching the electrical outlet.
- Children should be supervised to ensure they do not play with the appliance.
Package Contents
Verify that all components are present and in good condition upon unpacking:
- ViaAqua 200 Watt Titanium Heating Element
- Digital Temperature Controller Unit
- Temperature Sensor (integrated with heating element cable)
- Suction Cups for mounting
Setup
Follow these steps for proper installation of your ViaAqua Titanium Heater:
- Positioning the Heating Element: Place the titanium heating element fully submerged in the aquarium water. Ensure it is positioned horizontally or vertically in an area with good water circulation to distribute heat evenly. Use the provided suction cups to secure it to the aquarium glass.
- Positioning the Temperature Sensor: The temperature sensor is located near the heating element. Ensure it is also fully submerged and positioned away from direct contact with the heating element to get an accurate water temperature reading.
- Mounting the Controller: Mount the digital temperature controller unit outside the aquarium, in a dry location, using the integrated hanging tab or by placing it on a stable surface. Ensure it is easily accessible for temperature adjustments and monitoring.
- Connecting Power: Once the heating element and sensor are properly submerged and the controller is mounted, plug the heater's power cord into a standard electrical outlet. Ensure a drip loop is created to prevent water from reaching the outlet.

This image displays the complete ViaAqua 200 Watt Titanium Heater system. It includes the main digital temperature controller unit (orange and grey), the long silver titanium heating element, and the power cord with a standard plug. Key dimensions are marked: the power cord is approximately 68 inches long, the cable connecting the controller to the heater is about 40 inches, and the cable from the heater to the temperature sensor is about 20 inches.
Operating Instructions
- Power On: After plugging in the unit, the digital display on the controller will illuminate, showing the current water temperature.
- Setting Temperature: Use the control button on the digital controller to adjust the desired temperature. Press the button to cycle through temperature settings. The display will flash the set temperature, then return to showing the current water temperature.
- Heating Indicator: The controller will indicate when the heater is actively heating. Refer to the controller's specific light or symbol for this indication.
- Monitoring: Regularly monitor the aquarium temperature with an independent thermometer to ensure the heater is maintaining the desired temperature accurately.
Maintenance
- Cleaning: Periodically clean the heating element and temperature sensor to prevent algae or mineral buildup, which can affect performance. Always unplug the heater before cleaning. Use a soft cloth or brush and aquarium-safe cleaning solutions if necessary.
- Inspection: Regularly inspect the power cord, plug, and heating element for any signs of wear, damage, or corrosion. Replace the unit if any damage is found.
- Water Changes: During water changes, ensure the heater remains submerged or is unplugged to prevent it from operating out of water.
Troubleshooting
| Problem | Possible Cause | Solution |
|---|---|---|
| Heater not turning on | No power; faulty outlet; damaged cord/plug | Check power connection; test outlet with another device; inspect cord/plug for damage (replace if damaged). |
| Water temperature too high/low | Incorrect temperature setting; poor water circulation; faulty sensor/heater | Adjust temperature setting; ensure good water flow around heater; clean sensor; if problem persists, heater may be faulty. |
| Heater light on but no heat | Heating element failure | Unplug and inspect the heating element. If damaged or not heating, the unit may need replacement. |
| Display not working | Power issue; controller malfunction | Check power connection. If power is present and display remains off, the controller may be faulty. |
