2. Safety Instructions
Please read and understand all safety instructions before installing or operating the filter. Failure to follow these instructions may result in electric shock, fire, or serious injury.
- Always disconnect the power supply before performing any maintenance or cleaning.
- The UVC lamp emits harmful radiation. Never operate the UVC unit outside its housing or look directly at the illuminated lamp.
- Ensure all electrical connections are waterproof and protected from moisture.
- Do not operate the filter if any part is damaged, especially the power cord or UVC lamp housing.
- Keep the filter out of reach of children and pets.
- This appliance is for pond use only. Do not use it for other purposes.

4. Setup and Installation
4.1 Filter Placement
Place the filter unit on a stable, level surface next to your pond. The filter must be positioned above the highest water level of the pond to allow gravity-fed return of cleaned water. Ensure easy access for maintenance.
4.2 Connecting Hoses
- Connect the pond pump outlet hose to the filter's inlet port (marked 'IN'). Use the appropriate hose adapter for a secure, watertight connection.
- Connect a return hose from the filter's outlet port (marked 'OUT') back to the pond.
- Connect a waste hose to the backwash/cleaning outlet for draining dirty water during maintenance.
4.3 Electrical Connection
Connect the filter's power cable to a grounded, weather-protected electrical outlet. Ensure the power supply matches the filter's requirements (230V, 50Hz). The UVC unit has its own power connection.
4.4 Initial Startup
- Ensure all hose connections are tight and secure.
- Place the pond pump in the pond and connect it to the filter.
- Switch on the pond pump. Water will begin to fill the filter. Check for leaks.
- Once water flows steadily from the filter's outlet back into the pond, switch on the UVC unit.

5. Operating Instructions
The CPA-30000 operates continuously to filter your pond water. The UVC unit should run concurrently with your pond pump during the pond season to effectively combat green water and pathogens.
5.1 Filtration Process
Water enters the filter, passes through the UVC unit for sterilization, then flows through multiple layers of filter sponges for mechanical filtration, and finally through biological media (bioballs) where beneficial bacteria break down harmful substances.

6. Maintenance
Regular maintenance is crucial for the optimal performance and longevity of your filter.
6.1 Cleaning the Filter Sponges (Backwash Function)
The CPA-30000 features a convenient backwash function to clean the filter sponges without opening the unit.
- Disconnect the power to the UVC unit.
- Turn the selector handle to the 'CLEAN' or 'BACKWASH' position.
- Ensure the waste hose is directed to a suitable drainage area.
- Switch on the pond pump. Water will flow through the sponges in reverse, flushing out accumulated debris.
- Operate until the water running from the waste hose is clear.
- Switch off the pond pump, return the selector handle to 'FILTER' position, and reconnect the UVC power.

6.2 UVC Lamp Replacement
The UVC lamp's effectiveness diminishes over time. It should be replaced approximately every 8,000 operating hours or annually, typically at the start of the pond season.
- ALWAYS disconnect all power to the filter before replacing the UVC lamp.
- Carefully open the UVC housing according to the diagram in Section 3.
- Remove the old UVC lamp and quartz glass sleeve. Clean the quartz glass sleeve thoroughly.
- Insert the new 55W UVC lamp, ensuring it is correctly seated.
- Reassemble the UVC housing, ensuring all seals are properly in place to prevent water ingress.

6.3 General Cleaning and Media Replacement
Periodically, a more thorough cleaning of the filter media may be required. This involves opening the filter and manually rinsing the sponges and bioballs. Replace filter sponges when they become excessively worn or lose their structure. Bioballs generally do not need replacement unless damaged.

7. Troubleshooting
| Problem | Possible Cause | Solution |
|---|---|---|
| Water not clear / Green water | Clogged filter media, UVC lamp ineffective/faulty, insufficient pump flow, filter undersized for pond. | Clean filter sponges, replace UVC lamp, check pump for blockages, ensure filter is appropriate for pond size. |
| No water flow from filter | Pump not running, inlet hose blocked, filter completely clogged. | Check pump power and operation, clear hose blockages, perform thorough filter cleaning. |
| UVC lamp not lighting up | No power, faulty lamp, faulty ballast. | Check power connection, replace UVC lamp, contact support if ballast is suspected. |
| Water leaking from filter | Loose connections, damaged seals/O-rings, cracked housing. | Tighten hose connections, inspect and replace damaged seals/O-rings, contact support for housing damage. |
