1. Setup

1.1 What's in the Box

Your Fisher-Price Laugh & Learn Smart Stages Puppy package includes:

• 1 x Fisher-Price Laugh & Learn Smart Stages Puppy toy

1.2 Battery Installation

The Smart Stages Puppy requires 3 AAA batteries (included). To install or replace batteries:

1. Locate the battery compartment on the back of the puppy.
2. Using a Phillips head screwdriver, loosen the screw and remove the battery compartment cover.
3. Insert 3 new AAA batteries, ensuring correct polarity (+/-) as indicated inside the compartment.
4. Replace the cover and tighten the screw securely.

Always use fresh batteries for optimal performance. Do not mix old and new batteries or different types of batteries.

1.3 Power On

To turn on the Smart Stages Puppy, locate the power switch on the back of the toy. Slide the switch to the 'On' position. The puppy will greet you with sounds and phrases.

2. Operating Instructions

2.1 Smart Stages Technology

The Smart Stages Puppy features 3 learning levels that adapt as your child grows:

• Level 1 – Explore (6+ Months): Introduces first words, colors, and body parts through fun sounds and phrases.
• Level 2 – Encourage (12+ Months): Prompts children with questions and simple directions, encouraging interaction.
• Level 3 – Pretend (18+ Months): Engages children in imaginative play with songs and phrases that encourage role-playing.

To switch between Smart Stages levels, locate the switch on the puppy's right foot (marked with 0, 1, 2, 3). Slide the switch to select the desired learning level.

2.2 Interactive Points

The puppy has multiple interactive points that respond to your baby's touch:

• Light-Up Heart: Press the heart on the puppy's chest to activate songs, sounds, and phrases. Holding the heart down will play all songs.
• Hands: Press the left or right hand to hear phrases related to hands or other learning content.
• Foot: Press the foot to hear phrases related to feet or other learning content.
• Ear: Press the ear to hear phrases related to ears or other learning content.

2.3 Songs and Phrases

The Smart Stages Puppy features over 75 songs, sounds, tunes, and phrases designed to teach more than 100 first words, including parts of the body, colors, shapes, counting, and the alphabet.

2.4 Volume Control

To adjust the volume, locate the volume control switch on the back of the puppy, near the battery compartment. Slide the switch to select a lower or higher volume setting.

3. Maintenance

3.1 Cleaning Instructions

To clean your Smart Stages Puppy:

• Surface wash only. Do not immerse the toy in water.
• Use a damp cloth with mild soap to gently wipe soiled areas.
• Allow the toy to air dry completely before use or storage.

Note: Due to its electronic components, the toy is not designed for machine washing and may be challenging to clean thoroughly.

3.2 Storage

When not in use, store the Smart Stages Puppy in a clean, dry place away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures. If storing for an extended period, it is recommended to remove the batteries to prevent leakage.

4. Troubleshooting

4.1 No Sound or Intermittent Sound

• Check the battery compartment to ensure batteries are correctly installed and not depleted. Replace with fresh batteries if necessary.
• Ensure the power switch is in the 'On' position.
• Check the volume control switch and adjust to a higher setting.

4.2 Toy Not Responding to Touch

• Verify that the toy is powered on and has fresh batteries.
• Ensure the interactive points (heart, hands, foot, ear) are pressed firmly.
