3. Setup

3.1 Attaching the Reel to a Rod

1. Loosen the reel seat nut on your fishing rod.
2. Place the reel foot into the reel seat.
3. Tighten the reel seat nut securely until the reel is firmly attached to the rod.

3.2 Spooling Line

1. Open the bail arm.
2. Tie the fishing line to the spool using an arbor knot or similar secure knot.
3. Close the bail arm.
4. Maintain light tension on the line as you reel it onto the spool, ensuring even and tight wraps. Fill the spool to approximately 1/8 inch from the rim.

3.3 Handle Assembly

The Daiwa BG 3000 features a solid screw-in handle. To attach or change the handle side:

1. Unscrew the handle cap on the desired side of the reel body.
2. Insert the handle shaft into the corresponding opening and screw it in clockwise until it is tight.
3. Replace the handle cap on the opposite side to seal the opening.

4. Operating Instructions

4.1 Casting

1. Hold the rod and reel comfortably.
2. Use your index finger to hold the line against the rod.
3. Open the bail arm.
4. Swing the rod forward, releasing the line with your index finger at the peak of the forward motion.
5. Close the bail arm manually or by turning the handle once the lure or bait hits the water.

4.2 Retrieving

Turn the reel handle clockwise to retrieve the line. The Digigear system ensures smooth and efficient retrieval.

4.3 Drag Adjustment
