3. Operating Instructions
3.1 Drinking from the Bite Valve
- Activate Bite Valve: Ensure the on/off lever on the bite valve is in the 'ON' position (lever up).
- Drink: Gently bite down on the silicone bite valve and suck to draw water. The Crux reservoir is designed to deliver a high flow rate.
- Close Bite Valve: After drinking, push the on/off lever down to the 'OFF' position to prevent leaks.

3.2 External Refill
The Rogue pack features an external quick-release flap on the front, allowing you to refill the Crux reservoir without removing it from the pack. Simply open the flap, unscrew the reservoir cap, fill, and re-secure the cap and flap.
3.3 Using Storage Pockets
The pack includes two external pockets for organizing small essentials like keys, wallet, phone, or snacks. The stretch overflow compartment can be used to quickly stash a light jacket or extra layer.

4. Maintenance
4.1 Cleaning the Reservoir and Tube
- Empty and Rinse: After each use, empty any remaining liquid from the reservoir and rinse thoroughly with warm water.
- Soap Cleaning: For a deeper clean, use warm water and mild soap. For best results, use a CamelBak cleaning kit (sold separately) which includes brushes for the reservoir and tube.
- Bite Valve: Disassemble the bite valve and clean all components. Ensure no residue remains.
- Drying: Hang the reservoir upside down with the opening propped open to allow for complete air drying. Ensure the tube is also completely dry to prevent mold or mildew.
4.2 Pack Care
- Spot Cleaning: Clean the pack fabric with a damp cloth and mild soap. Do not machine wash or tumble dry.
- Air Dry: Allow the pack to air dry completely before storing.
5. Troubleshooting
5.1 Leaks from Reservoir Cap
- Issue: Water leaking from the reservoir cap.
- Solution: Ensure the cap is properly aligned and tightened. Some users find it helpful to turn the cap counter-clockwise until a click is heard/felt, then tighten clockwise. This ensures the threads are correctly engaged.
5.2 Poor Water Flow
- Issue: Difficulty drawing water through the bite valve.
- Solution: Check if the bite valve's on/off lever is in the 'ON' position. Ensure the hydration tube is not kinked or pinched. Verify the reservoir is not empty. Clean the bite valve and tube to remove any blockages.
5.3 Water Taste
- Issue: Unpleasant taste in water.
- Solution: Thoroughly clean the reservoir and tube as per maintenance instructions. For new reservoirs, a mild baking soda solution rinse can help eliminate initial plastic taste. Store the reservoir dry and open.
