Important Safety Information
WARNING: Failure to follow these instructions may result in serious injury or property damage.
- Read all instructions before using the pressure cooker.
- Do not touch hot surfaces. Use handles or knobs.
- Close supervision is necessary when the pressure cooker is used near children.
- Do not place the pressure cooker in a heated oven.
- Exercise extreme caution when moving a pressure cooker containing hot liquids.
- Do not use the pressure cooker for purposes other than its intended use.
- This appliance cooks under pressure. Improper use may result in scalding injury. Make certain unit is properly closed before operating. See "Operating Instructions".
- Never force open a pressure cooker. Make certain pressure has dropped completely before opening. See "Operating Instructions".
- Do not fill the unit over 2/3 full. When cooking foods that expand during cooking, such as rice or dried vegetables, do not fill the unit over 1/2 full. Overfilling may cause a risk of clogging the vent pipe and developing excess pressure. See "Operating Instructions".
- Be aware that certain foods, such as applesauce, cranberries, pearl barley, oatmeal or other cereals, split peas, noodles, macaroni, rhubarb, or spaghetti can foam, froth, and sputter, and clog the pressure release device. These foods should not be cooked in a pressure cooker.
- Always check the pressure release devices for clogging before use.
- Use only Monix replacement parts.

Setup and First Use
- Unpacking: Carefully remove all packaging materials and inspect the pressure cooker for any damage.
- Initial Cleaning: Before first use, wash the pot body, lid, and sealing gasket with warm, soapy water. Rinse thoroughly and dry completely. Ensure the pressure regulating valve and safety valve are clear of any debris.
- Gasket Installation: Ensure the sealing gasket is correctly seated inside the lid rim. It should fit snugly and evenly.
- Water Test (Recommended): For your first use, perform a water test. Fill the cooker with 2-3 cups of water. Close the lid securely (see "Closing the Lid" in Operating Instructions). Place on a heat source and bring to pressure. Once pressure is reached, reduce heat and maintain for 5-10 minutes. Then, release pressure (see "Releasing Pressure") and open the lid. This helps you familiarize yourself with the cooker's operation and ensures all parts are functioning correctly.
Operating Instructions
1. Filling the Pressure Cooker
- Add food and liquid to the pot. Always add at least 1 cup (250ml) of liquid to generate steam.
- Do not fill the cooker more than 2/3 full. For foods that expand (e.g., rice, beans, grains), do not fill more than 1/2 full.
2. Closing the Lid
- Align the lid with the pot body according to the markings (usually an arrow on the lid and handle aligning with a mark on the pot handle).
- Press down firmly on the lid and rotate the main handle clockwise until it locks into place. Ensure the lid is securely sealed and cannot be rotated further.
3. Cooking Under Pressure
- Place the pressure cooker on a suitable heat source (compatible with induction).
- Set the pressure regulating valve to the desired pressure setting (e.g., MIN or MAX, or specific food icons if available).
- Heat on high until steam begins to escape steadily from the pressure regulating valve or the pressure indicator rises.
- Once full pressure is reached, reduce the heat to the lowest setting that maintains a steady release of steam or keeps the pressure indicator at the correct level.
- Begin timing your recipe from this point.
4. Releasing Pressure
There are generally two methods for releasing pressure:
- Natural Release: Remove the cooker from the heat source and allow it to cool down naturally. Pressure will gradually decrease. This method is ideal for foods that benefit from additional cooking time, such as stews and roasts.
- Quick Release: For foods that require precise cooking times or to stop cooking quickly, you can manually release pressure. Carefully turn the pressure regulating valve to the steam release position (if available) or place the cooker under cold running water (avoiding the valve area) until the pressure indicator drops. CAUTION: Steam will be released forcefully. Keep hands and face away from the steam vent.
Never attempt to open the lid until all pressure has been released and the pressure indicator has dropped completely.
5. Opening the Lid
- Once pressure is fully released, rotate the main handle counter-clockwise to unlock the lid.
- Carefully lift the lid away from you to allow any remaining steam to escape safely.
Maintenance and Cleaning
- After Each Use: Wash the pot body and lid with warm, soapy water. The pot body is dishwasher safe.
- Sealing Gasket: Remove the sealing gasket from the lid and wash it separately. Inspect it for cracks or damage. Replace if necessary (recommended annually or if signs of wear appear).
- Valves: Ensure the pressure regulating valve and safety valve are clean and free of food particles. Use a small brush or toothpick if needed to clear any blockages.
- Storage: Store the pressure cooker with the lid inverted on the pot to prevent the gasket from compressing and prolong its life.
- Do not use abrasive cleaners or scouring pads, as these can damage the stainless steel finish.
Troubleshooting
| Problem | Possible Cause | Solution |
|---|---|---|
| Pressure not building up. | Lid not properly closed; insufficient liquid; sealing gasket damaged or misplaced; valve clogged. | Ensure lid is locked; add more liquid; check/replace gasket; clean valves. |
| Steam leaking from lid. | Lid not properly closed; sealing gasket damaged or misplaced; food debris on rim. | Re-seat lid; check/replace gasket; clean rim and gasket. |
| Lid cannot be opened after cooking. | Pressure still inside the cooker. | Ensure all pressure is released (pressure indicator dropped) before attempting to open. |
| Food is undercooked. | Insufficient cooking time; heat too low; pressure not maintained. | Increase cooking time; ensure proper heat and pressure maintenance. |
