1. Introduction

The Tenda AC18 Wireless-AC1900 Dual Band Gigabit Router is designed to provide a high-speed, reliable network connection for your home or office. Utilizing 802.11AC technology, it offers dual-band Wi-Fi with speeds up to 1300Mbps on the 5GHz band and 600Mbps on the 2.4GHz band. Equipped with a dual-core processor, Gigabit WAN and LAN ports, and a USB 3.0 port, the AC18 is suitable for 4K Ultra HD video streaming, online gaming, and efficient file sharing.

3. Product Overview

3.1. LED Indicators

• PWR: Power indicator. Solid blue when powered on.
• WAN: Internet connection indicator. Solid blue when connected, blinking when data is transferring.
• LAN: Local Area Network connection indicator. Solid blue when connected, blinking when data is transferring.
• WPS: Wi-Fi Protected Setup indicator. Blinks during WPS connection attempt.
• 2.4G: 2.4GHz Wi-Fi band indicator. Solid blue when active, blinking when data is transferring.
• 5G: 5GHz Wi-Fi band indicator. Solid blue when active, blinking when data is transferring.
• USB3.0: USB port indicator. Solid blue when a USB device is connected, blinking when data is transferring.
• SYS: System status indicator. Blinking blue during normal operation.

3.2. Ports and Buttons

• DC-IN: Power input port. Connect the provided power adapter here.
• Power Button: Press to turn the router on or off.
• WiFi On/Off Button: Press to enable or disable the Wi-Fi signal.
• WPS Button: Press to initiate a WPS connection with compatible devices.
• Reset Button: Press and hold for 8-10 seconds to restore factory default settings.
• Internet (WAN) Port: Connect your modem or main internet line here.
• LAN Ports (1-4): Connect wired devices such as PCs, Smart TVs, or game consoles.
• USB 3.0 Port: Connect USB storage devices (flash drives, external hard drives) or printers for network sharing.

4. Setup Guide

Follow these steps to set up your Tenda AC18 router:

1. Power On: Connect the power adapter to the DC-IN port of the router and plug it into a power outlet. Press the Power button. The PWR LED should light up.
2. Connect to Modem: Connect one end of the provided Ethernet cable to the WAN port of the AC18 router and the other end to your modem's LAN port. The WAN LED should light up.
3. Connect to Computer: Connect another Ethernet cable from one of the LAN ports (1-4) on the router to your computer's Ethernet port. Alternatively, connect wirelessly using the default Wi-Fi name (SSID) and password printed on the label at the bottom of the router.
4. Access Router Interface: Open a web browser on your connected computer and type tendawifi.com or 192.168.0.1 into the address bar.
5. Initial Configuration: Follow the on-screen instructions to set up your internet connection type (e.g., PPPoE, Dynamic IP, Static IP) and configure your Wi-Fi network name (SSID) and password. It is recommended to change the default login password for security.

5. Basic Operation

5.1. Dual-Band Wi-Fi

The AC18 operates on two frequency bands: 2.4GHz and 5GHz. The 2.4GHz band offers wider coverage and better penetration through walls, suitable for general browsing and older devices. The 5GHz band provides faster speeds and less interference, ideal for streaming 4K video and online gaming.

5.2. USB 3.0 Port Functionality

The USB 3.0 port allows you to connect external storage devices or printers to the router, making them accessible to all devices on your network.

• Network Storage: Connect a USB flash drive or external hard drive to share files, photos, and music across your network. Access these files via SMB/CIFS.
• Printer Sharing: Connect a USB printer to the router to allow multiple computers on the network to print to it.

5.3. Guest Network

Create a separate Wi-Fi network for guests to provide internet access without giving them access to your main network resources. This enhances security and privacy.

5.4. MAC Address & Client Filtering

The router supports MAC address filtering to control which devices can connect to your network, enhancing security by preventing unauthorized access.

6. Maintenance

To ensure optimal performance and longevity of your Tenda AC18 router:

• Placement: Place the router in a central location, away from obstructions, large metal objects, and devices that emit strong electromagnetic interference (e.g., microwaves, cordless phones).
• Ventilation: Ensure adequate airflow around the router to prevent overheating. Do not cover ventilation holes.
• Firmware Updates: Regularly check the Tenda official website for firmware updates. Updating firmware can improve performance, add new features, and fix security vulnerabilities.
• Cleaning: Use a soft, dry cloth to clean the router. Do not use liquid cleaners or aerosols.
• Reboot: Periodically reboot the router (unplug and replug the power adapter) to clear its memory and refresh network connections, which can resolve minor performance issues.

7. Troubleshooting

If you encounter issues with your Tenda AC18 router, refer to the following common problems and solutions:

• No Internet Access:
  • Check if the WAN LED is solid blue. If not, ensure the Ethernet cable from the modem is securely connected to the router's WAN port.
  • Reboot your modem and router.
  • Verify your internet connection type and settings in the router's web interface.
• Wi-Fi Signal Weak or Unstable:
  • Ensure the router is centrally located and away from interference sources.
  • Check the 2.4G and 5G LEDs. If off, press the WiFi On/Off button.
  • Adjust antenna positions for better signal.
  • Try changing Wi-Fi channels in the router settings to avoid interference from neighboring networks.
• Cannot Access Router Web Interface:
  • Ensure your device is connected to the router via Ethernet or Wi-Fi.
  • Verify you are typing tendawifi.com or 192.168.0.1 correctly in the browser.
  • Clear your browser's cache or try a different browser.
  • If you forgot the login password, perform a factory reset by pressing and holding the Reset button for 8-10 seconds. Note: This will erase all your settings.
• Slow Network Speed:
  • Ensure your devices are connected to the appropriate Wi-Fi band (5GHz for faster speeds).
  • Check for excessive network traffic or too many connected devices.
  • Verify your internet service provider's speed.
  • Consider updating the router's firmware.
