  • Adjustable wrench
  • Plumber's putty or silicone sealant
  • Appropriate Schedule 40 PVC pipes and tee fitting

3.2 Installation Steps:

  1. Prepare the Bathtub: Ensure the bathtub overflow and drain openings are clean and free of debris.
  2. Assemble Overflow: Attach the two-hole top elbow to the bathtub's overflow opening. Secure the illusionary overflow cover to the elbow using the provided fasteners and gasket. Ensure a watertight seal.
  3. Install Drain Shoe: Apply plumber's putty or silicone sealant around the underside of the lift and turn drain flange. Insert the drain into the bathtub's drain opening from above. From below, attach the coarse thread bottom elbow to the drain body, ensuring the gasket is properly seated and tightened securely.
  4. Connect PVC Piping: Measure and cut the necessary lengths of Schedule 40 PVC pipe to connect the top overflow elbow, the bottom drain elbow, and the tee fitting (not included). Dry-fit all components to ensure proper alignment and fit.
  5. Solvent Weld Connections: Apply PVC primer to all mating surfaces, followed by PVC cement. Quickly assemble the connections, ensuring a firm and complete bond. Allow adequate curing time as per the cement manufacturer's instructions.
  6. Test for Leaks: Once the cement has cured, fill the bathtub with water and check all connections for leaks. Address any leaks immediately.

5. Maintenance

Regular maintenance will ensure the longevity and proper function of your bath drain.

5.1 Cleaning the Drain and Overflow:

  • Drain Stopper: Periodically remove the lift and turn stopper by pulling it up and out. Clean any hair or debris accumulated around the stopper and inside the drain opening. Rinse with water and reinsert.
  • Overflow Faceplate: The illusionary overflow faceplate can be cleaned by wiping it with a soft cloth and a mild, non-abrasive cleaner. If clogging occurs behind the faceplate, it can be removed by unscrewing the fasteners to access the overflow elbow for cleaning.

5.2 Finish Care:

To maintain the Satin Nickel finish, clean with a soft, damp cloth. Avoid using abrasive cleaners, harsh chemicals, or scouring pads, as these can damage the finish.

6. Troubleshooting

If you encounter issues with your bath drain, refer to the following common problems and solutions:
