- Antenna: For transmitting and receiving radio signals.

Setup
1. Battery Installation
- Ensure the radio is powered off.
- Locate the battery compartment cover on the back of the radio.
- Slide the cover down or unlatch it according to the design.
- Insert the 1500mAh Li-poly battery, ensuring the contacts align correctly.
- Replace the battery compartment cover and secure it.
2. Charging the Battery
The LT-316 supports Micro-USB charging.
- Connect the provided charging adapter to the Micro-USB port on the radio.
- Plug the charging adapter into a standard power outlet.
- The radio's indicator light will typically show red during charging and turn green when fully charged.
- A full charge may take several hours. Do not overcharge the battery.
Note: For optimal battery life, fully charge the battery before first use.
Operating Instructions
1. Power On/Off and Volume Adjustment
- To power on the radio, rotate the Power Knob clockwise until you hear a click.
- Continue rotating the Power Knob clockwise to increase the volume.
- Rotate counter-clockwise to decrease the volume.
- To power off, rotate the Power Knob counter-clockwise until you hear a click.
2. Channel Selection
The LT-316 has 16 channels. Use the UP and Down keys to select your desired channel.
- Press the UP key to increase the channel number.
- Press the Down key to decrease the channel number.
- Ensure all radios in your group are set to the same channel for communication.
3. Transmitting and Receiving
- To Transmit: Press and hold the PTT key. Speak clearly into the microphone (located near the PTT key). Release the PTT key when you finish speaking.
- To Receive: Ensure the PTT key is not pressed. The radio will automatically receive signals on the selected channel.
4. VOX (Voice Operated Transmit) Function
VOX allows hands-free operation. When VOX is enabled, the radio will automatically transmit when it detects your voice.
- Refer to the advanced settings section (if available via programming software) to enable or disable VOX and adjust its sensitivity.
- When VOX is active, speak normally to transmit. The radio will stop transmitting shortly after you stop speaking.
5. Scan Function
The scan function allows the radio to automatically scan through all programmed channels to detect active conversations.
- To activate the scan function, typically a dedicated button or a long press of a specific key is used (refer to specific model programming for details).
- When an active channel is detected, the radio will stop scanning and allow you to listen.
- To resume scanning, wait for the transmission to end or press a designated key.
6. CTCSS/DCS (Tone Squelch)
CTCSS (Continuous Tone-Coded Squelch System) and DCS (Digital Coded Squelch) are sub-audible tones that filter out unwanted conversations on the same channel. Only signals with the matching tone will be heard.
- These settings are usually programmed into the radio channels using software.
- Ensure all radios in your group use the same CTCSS/DCS code on a given channel for private communication.
7. Squelch
Squelch eliminates background noise when no signal is being received. The LT-316 features an adjustable squelch level.
- A higher squelch level requires a stronger signal to open the receiver, reducing static but potentially missing weak signals.
- A lower squelch level allows weaker signals but may pick up more background noise.
- Squelch level is typically adjusted via programming software.
8. Low Battery Alert
The radio will provide an audible or visual alert when the battery level is low. Recharge the battery promptly to avoid interruption of communication.
