Safety Instructions
Lithium Polymer (LiPo) batteries can be dangerous if not handled correctly. Failure to follow these safety instructions can result in fire, personal injury, and property damage.
- Charging: Always use a LiPo-compatible charger with a balance function. Never charge unattended. Charge on a non-flammable surface away from combustible materials. Do not exceed the recommended charge rate (typically 1C, unless specified otherwise by the manufacturer).
- Discharging: Do not discharge below 3.0V per cell. Over-discharging can permanently damage the battery and pose a fire risk during subsequent charging.
- Storage: Store LiPo batteries at room temperature (15-25°C or 59-77°F) and at a storage voltage of 3.8V-3.85V per cell. Store in a fire-safe container or bag.
- Physical Damage: Do not puncture, drop, or crush the battery. If the battery is damaged, swollen, or shows any signs of leakage, discontinue use immediately and dispose of it safely.
- Temperature: Avoid exposing the battery to extreme temperatures (above 60°C/140°F or below 0°C/32°F). Do not charge or discharge a hot battery. Allow it to cool down first.
- Disposal: Dispose of damaged or old LiPo batteries responsibly. Fully discharge the battery before disposal and consult local regulations for proper disposal methods.
- Children: Keep batteries out of reach of children.

Setup
- Initial Inspection: Before first use, carefully inspect the battery for any signs of damage, swelling, or loose connections. Do not use if any damage is observed.
- First Charge: It is recommended to fully charge the battery before its first use. Refer to the "Operating: Charging" section for detailed instructions.
- Connection: Connect the T-Plug discharge connector to your RC vehicle's Electronic Speed Controller (ESC). Ensure the connection is secure and correct polarity is maintained.
- Balance Lead: If your application requires monitoring or additional balancing, connect the JST-XH balance lead to a compatible device.
Operating
Charging
- Always use a charger specifically designed for Lithium Polymer (LiPo) batteries. Ensure the charger is set to the correct cell count (4S) and voltage (14.8V).
- Connect the main discharge T-Plug connector to the charger's output.
- Connect the JST-XH balance plug to the charger's balance port. This is crucial for cell balancing and safety.
- Set the charge current. For this 3500mAh battery, a 1C charge rate is 3.5 Amps. Do not exceed the manufacturer's recommended charge rate.
- Monitor the battery during charging. If the battery becomes hot, swells, or shows any unusual behavior, immediately disconnect it from the charger and move it to a safe, non-flammable location.
- Never leave a charging LiPo battery unattended.
Discharging
- Ensure your RC vehicle's ESC has a low-voltage cutoff (LVC) set appropriately for 4S LiPo batteries (typically around 3.2V-3.4V per cell).
- Do not discharge the battery below 3.0V per cell (12.0V for a 4S pack). Discharging below this threshold can cause irreversible damage and reduce battery lifespan.
- Avoid continuous high-current discharge that exceeds the battery's specified C-rating for extended periods.
- If the battery becomes excessively hot during use, allow it to cool down before recharging or further use.
Storage
- For long-term storage, charge or discharge the battery to a storage voltage of 3.8V-3.85V per cell (approximately 15.2V-15.4V for a 4S pack). Most modern LiPo chargers have a "Storage" mode.
- Store the battery in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight, heat sources, and flammable materials.
- Use a LiPo-safe bag or fireproof container for storage.
Maintenance
- Regularly inspect the battery for any physical damage, swelling, or signs of wear on the wires and connectors.
- Keep connectors clean and free of dirt or corrosion to ensure good electrical contact.
- Avoid bending or stressing the battery wires excessively.
- If the battery is not used for an extended period, check its voltage periodically and recharge to storage voltage if necessary.
Troubleshooting
- Battery Not Charging:
- Ensure charger settings (LiPo mode, cell count) are correct.
- Check all connections (main and balance leads) are secure.
- Verify the charger is functioning correctly.
- Reduced Run Time:
- Battery may be aging; LiPo batteries have a finite cycle life.
- Check for over-discharge in previous uses.
- Ensure proper charging and storage practices are followed.
- Battery Swelling:
- Immediately discontinue use. Swelling indicates internal damage and a significant safety risk.
- Do not attempt to charge or use a swollen battery. Dispose of it safely according to local regulations.
- Battery Gets Hot During Use:
- This can be normal under heavy load, but excessive heat indicates over-stressing the battery.
- Check if the motor/ESC combination is drawing too much current for the battery's C-rating.
- Allow the battery to cool completely before recharging.
