Maintenance
Regular maintenance ensures optimal performance and longevity of your printer:
- Cleaning: Periodically wipe the exterior of the printer with a soft, damp cloth. Clean the scanner glass with a lint-free cloth and glass cleaner to avoid smudges on scanned documents.
- Print Head Cleaning: If print quality declines (streaks, faded colors), perform a print head cleaning from the printer's maintenance menu or through the printer driver software on your computer.
- Nozzle Check: Run a nozzle check pattern to identify clogged nozzles. If clogs are present, perform a deep cleaning.
- Firmware Updates: Regularly check for and install firmware updates to ensure your printer has the latest features and bug fixes.
Troubleshooting
Here are solutions for common issues you might encounter:
- "Ink may have run out" / "Ink tank cannot be recognized" (Support Code 1600/1660): This indicates an empty or unrecognized ink tank. Replace the indicated ink tank with a new, genuine Canon ink tank. Ensure the tank is properly seated.
- Poor Print Quality: Perform a print head cleaning and nozzle check. Ensure you are using appropriate paper settings for your print job.
- Printer Offline: Check your Wi-Fi connection and ensure the printer is connected to the network. Restart both the printer and your router if necessary.
- Paper Jams: Carefully remove any jammed paper following the instructions in the printer's on-screen display or user manual. Avoid tearing the paper.
- Slow Printing: Adjust print quality settings to a lower resolution for faster document printing. Ensure your printer drivers are up to date.
