iRobot Roomba 621 Robot Vacuum User Manual

This manual provides instructions for the setup, operation, and maintenance of your iRobot Roomba 621 Robot Vacuum. Learn how to effectively use its 3-Stage Cleaning System for various floor types and maintain its performance.

1. Product Overview

The iRobot Roomba 621 is designed to provide automated floor cleaning. It features a patented 3-Stage Cleaning System that loosens, lifts, and suctions dirt, dust, and debris from both carpets and hard floors. Integrated Dirt Detect™ sensors enable the robot to focus on areas with higher concentrations of dirt for a more thorough clean. The robot is equipped with Dual Multi-Surface Brushes that adapt to different floor types, and an Edge-Sweeping brush for cleaning along walls and in corners. It operates for up to 90 minutes before automatically returning to its Home Base to recharge.

2. Setup

2.1 Unpacking

Carefully remove all components from the packaging. Ensure all packing materials are removed from the robot and its accessories.

2.2 Charging the Robot

Place the Home Base charging station against a wall in an open, uncluttered area. Plug the line cord into the Home Base and then into a wall outlet. Place the Roomba onto the Home Base, ensuring the metal charging contacts on the robot align with those on the Home Base. The robot will begin charging automatically. Allow the robot to fully charge before its first use (typically 3 hours).

2.3 Initial Placement

For optimal performance, ensure the area to be cleaned is free of excessive clutter, loose cables, or small objects that could obstruct the robot's movement.

3. Operating Instructions

3.1 Starting a Cleaning Cycle

To start a cleaning cycle, press the large "CLEAN" button located on the top of the robot. The robot will emit a tone and begin cleaning. It will navigate autonomously, adapting to different floor surfaces and avoiding obstacles using its advanced sensors.

3.3 Automatic Recharging

The Roomba 621 is designed to run for up to 90 minutes. When its battery is low, or when a cleaning cycle is complete, the robot will automatically return to its Home Base to recharge.

4. Maintenance

Regular maintenance is essential to keep your Roomba 621 operating efficiently. Perform these steps regularly, especially if you notice a decrease in cleaning performance.

4.1 Emptying the Dust Bin

After each cleaning cycle, or when the bin full indicator illuminates, remove and empty the dust bin. Press the bin release button, pull out the bin, and discard collected debris. Tap the bin to dislodge any trapped dirt.

4.2 Cleaning the Brushes

The Dual Multi-Surface Brushes and the Edge-Sweeping brush should be cleaned regularly to remove hair and debris. Turn the robot over and open the brush frame. Remove the main brushes and use the included cleaning tool (often red) to cut and remove any tangled hair or fibers. Clean the yellow end caps and the brush bearings. Reinstall the brushes, ensuring they click into place.
