  • 1 x Faceplate
  • 1 x Strike Plate
  • 3 x Nickel-plated steel keys
  • Mounting screws

4. Setup and Installation

Tools Required: Drill, chisel, screwdriver, measuring tape, pencil, utility knife.

  1. Prepare the Door: Mark the lock body position on the door edge and face. Use a template (if available) or carefully measure according to the lock's dimensions to mark holes for the lock body, spindle, and cylinder.
  2. Mortise the Door: Chisel out the mortise pocket for the lock body. Drill pilot holes for the spindle, cylinder, and mounting screws as marked. Ensure the mortise is deep enough for the lock body to sit flush.
  3. Install the Lock Body: Insert the mortise lock body into the prepared pocket. Ensure it sits flush with the door edge. Secure the lock body with the provided mounting screws.
  4. Install Cylinder and Spindle: Insert the Euro profile cylinder and the spindle through their respective holes. Secure the cylinder with its retaining screw, typically located on the edge of the lock body.
  5. Install Strike Plate: Close the door and mark the position of the latch and deadbolt on the door frame. Chisel out the recess for the strike plate on the door frame, ensuring proper alignment with the latch and deadbolt. Secure the strike plate with screws.
  6. Test Operation: Test the latch and deadbolt operation with the key from both sides. Ensure smooth engagement and disengagement without binding. Adjust the strike plate or lock body if necessary.

  • Unlocking: From either side of the door, insert the key into the cylinder and turn it to retract the deadbolt fully. Turn the door handle to open the door.
  • Internal Panic Function: In models featuring the internal panic function (excluding 4030E), the door can be opened from the inside by simply turning the handle, even if the deadbolt is engaged, providing free egress in emergencies.

6. Maintenance

  • Lubrication: Periodically lubricate the lock cylinder and internal mechanism with a graphite-based lubricant or a silicone spray. Avoid oil-based lubricants as they can attract dust and debris, potentially hindering operation.
  • Cleaning: Clean the exterior of the lock and faceplate with a soft, damp cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners, solvents, or harsh chemicals, as these can damage the finish.
  • Screw Tightness: Periodically check and tighten all mounting screws on the lock body, faceplate, and strike plate to ensure the lock remains securely fastened and operates correctly.

7. Troubleshooting

  • Problem: Key is difficult to turn or gets stuck.
Solution: Lubricate the cylinder with a graphite-based lubricant. Check for any obstructions in the keyway. Ensure the key is not bent or damaged.
  • Problem: Latch or deadbolt does not retract/extend smoothly.
Solution: Check for proper alignment of the strike plate on the door frame. Ensure mounting screws are not overtightened, which can bind the mechanism. Lubricate the internal mechanism.
  • Problem: Door rattles when closed.
Solution: Adjust the strike plate position slightly to ensure a snug fit with the latch. Ensure all screws are tightened.
