3. Setup

3.1. Unpacking

Your package includes the Canon VIXIA HF G20 Camcorder body. Please check for any visible damage upon receipt.

3.2. Battery Installation and Charging

Insert the battery pack into the battery compartment until it clicks into place. Connect the power adapter to the camcorder and a power outlet to charge the battery. The charging indicator will show the status.

3.3. Memory Card Insertion

3.4. Attaching the Lens Hood

Align the lens hood with the front of the lens and twist it gently until it locks into position. The lens hood helps reduce glare and protects the lens.

3.5. Initial Power-On and Basic Settings

Press the POWER button to turn on the camcorder. Follow the on-screen prompts to set the date, time, and language. These settings are crucial for accurate video metadata.

4. Operating the Camcorder

4.1. Power On/Off

To power on the camcorder, slide the ON/OFF switch located near the rear of the device. To power off, slide the switch back to the OFF position.

4.2. Recording Video

The Canon VIXIA HF G20 features a 10x HD video lens and an HD CMOS Pro Image Sensor for superior video quality. It records in 1080p resolution in MP4 format.

Start/Stop Recording: Press the REC START/STOP button, typically located on the rear or top of the camcorder, to begin and end recording.

4.3. Capturing Photos

The camcorder can also capture still images. Refer to the on-screen menu for photo mode selection and settings.

4.4. Using the Display and Viewfinder

The VIXIA HF G20 features a bright 3.5-inch Touch Panel LCD and an Electronic Viewfinder (EVF) with a large eye cap. You can use either for monitoring your shots, and the camcorder supports simultaneous output to both.

4.5. Playback
