Operating Instructions

The Space Seating 55 Series chair offers several adjustments to customize your seating experience for optimal comfort and ergonomic support.

1. Seat Height Adjustment

To adjust the seat height, locate the lever on the right side beneath the seat. While seated, lift the lever to lower the seat. To raise the seat, lift the lever while taking your weight off the seat. Release the lever at your desired height.

2. Armrest Height Adjustment

The armrests are height adjustable. Press the button located on the side of each armrest post. While holding the button, slide the armrest up or down to your preferred height. Release the button to lock the armrest in place.

3. Tilt and Tilt Tension Adjustment

The chair features a 2-to-1 synchro control and adjustable tilt tension. To enable or disable the recline function, push the lever on the left side beneath the seat (opposite the height adjustment lever) in or out. Pushing it in locks the backrest in an upright position, while pulling it out allows for reclining. The tilt tension knob, usually located at the front center under the seat, can be rotated to increase or decrease the resistance of the recline.

Maintenance

  • Cleaning: Spot clean the fabric and mesh surfaces as needed. Use a mild soap and water solution with a soft cloth. Avoid harsh chemicals or abrasive cleaners.
  • Caster Care: Periodically check the dual-wheel carpet casters for any accumulated debris (hair, lint, etc.) and clean them to ensure smooth rolling.
  • Hardware Check: Occasionally inspect all screws and bolts to ensure they are tight. Re-tighten if necessary to maintain stability.

Troubleshooting

If you encounter any issues with your Space Seating 55 Series office chair, please refer to the following common solutions:

  • Chair Sinks or Won't Stay Up: This usually indicates an issue with the gas lift cylinder. Contact customer support for a replacement.
  • Chair Wobbles: Ensure all assembly bolts are securely tightened. Check the base and casters for any damage or loose connections.
  • Casters Not Rolling Smoothly: Clean any debris from the caster wheels. If they are still stiff, they may need lubrication or replacement.
  • Backrest Not Reclining/Locking: Verify the tilt lock lever is in the correct position (pulled out for recline, pushed in to lock). Adjust the tilt tension knob if the recline resistance is too high or low.
