1. Introduction
The Rikon 1HP Portable Dust Collector, model #60-105, is a versatile and efficient solution for managing dust and wood chips in small to medium-sized workshops. Designed for adaptability, it can be used as a portable unit with built-in casters and a handle, or securely mounted to a wall to save floor space. This dust collector features a single 4-inch dust port capable of drawing 660 CFM, providing ample vacuum power for high chip-producing machines like jointers and planers. It also includes an adjustable pipe extension with a chip collecting funnel, allowing for effective dust collection from various tools such as lathes, drill presses, and workbenches. The system comes complete with a 2-micron cloth filter bag, a 108-inch long x 4-inch dust hose, and all necessary wall mounting brackets.

2. Safety Instructions
Always adhere to the following safety guidelines to prevent personal injury and damage to the equipment:
- Read and understand this entire manual before operating the dust collector.
- Wear appropriate personal protective equipment, including eye protection, hearing protection, and a dust mask.
- Ensure the work area is well-ventilated and free from obstructions.
- Always disconnect the power supply before performing any maintenance, cleaning, or adjustments.
- Keep hands, hair, and loose clothing away from moving parts and the dust port.
- Securely connect all hoses and attachments to prevent accidental disconnection during operation.
- Do not operate the dust collector if any parts are damaged or missing.
- Keep children and unauthorized persons away from the operating area.
3. Components Overview
The Rikon 1HP Portable Dust Collector consists of the following main components:
- Motor/Blower Unit: The main power unit that generates the vacuum.
- Dust Collection Bag: A 2-micron cloth filter bag that collects fine dust and allows air to pass through.
- Dust Hose: A 4-inch diameter, 108-inch long flexible hose for connecting to tools or the funnel.
- Adjustable Pipe & Funnel Attachment System: Allows for positioning the collection point at various heights for different applications.
- Wall Mounting Brackets: Hardware for securing the unit to a wall.
- Casters: Wheels for easy mobility when used in portable mode.
- Safety On/Off Switch: Provides a secure way to power the unit on and off.
4. Setup
4.1 Portable Setup
- Ensure the casters are securely attached to the base of the unit.
- Attach the dust collection bag to the outlet port of the blower unit using the provided clamp and strap. Ensure a tight seal.
- Connect one end of the 4-inch dust hose to the inlet port of the blower unit.
- Attach the adjustable pipe and funnel system to the other end of the dust hose, or connect directly to your woodworking machine's dust port.
- Position the unit near your desired woodworking machine.
4.2 Wall Mounting
- Identify a suitable wall location with adequate structural support (e.g., wall studs) to bear the weight of the unit (approximately 55.9 lbs).
- Securely fasten the wall mounting brackets to the wall using appropriate hardware. It is recommended to have assistance due to the unit's weight.
- Carefully lift and secure the motor/blower unit onto the installed wall mounting brackets.
- Attach the dust collection bag to the outlet port of the blower unit.
- Connect the 4-inch dust hose to the inlet port. If connecting to a machine with a smaller dust port (e.g., 2.5 inches), a suitable adapter will be required.

5. Operating Instructions
- Ensure the dust collector is properly set up, either in portable or wall-mounted configuration, with all hoses and the dust bag securely attached.
- Connect the power cord to a standard 120V electrical outlet.
- Position the dust hose or funnel near the source of dust generation. For optimal collection, ensure the funnel or hose opening is as close as possible to the cutting or sanding area.
- Locate the safety on/off switch on the unit.
- To start the dust collector, push the switch to the 'ON' position. The motor will begin to operate, and suction will be generated.
- To turn off the dust collector, push the switch to the 'OFF' position.

6. Maintenance
Regular maintenance ensures the longevity and optimal performance of your dust collector:
- Emptying the Dust Bag: Regularly check the dust bag level. Empty the bag when it is approximately two-thirds full to maintain efficient airflow and suction.
- Filter Cleaning/Replacement: Periodically clean the 2-micron cloth filter bag. Depending on usage, the filter may need to be shaken out or gently brushed to remove accumulated dust. Replace the filter bag if it becomes damaged or excessively clogged and cannot be cleaned effectively.
- Hose Inspection: Inspect the dust hose for any signs of clogs, tears, or damage. Clear any obstructions immediately.
- Connection Check: Ensure all clamps and connections are tight and secure to prevent air leaks, which can reduce suction efficiency.
- General Cleaning: Keep the exterior of the dust collector clean and free of dust buildup.
7. Troubleshooting
| Problem | Possible Cause | Solution |
