3.2 Adding Engine Oil

  • Place the generator on a level surface.
  • Remove the oil fill cap/dipstick.
  • Using the provided oil funnel, slowly add the recommended engine oil (included) until the oil level reaches the 'H' (High) mark on the dipstick. Do not overfill.
  • Securely replace the oil fill cap/dipstick.

3.3 Connecting the Battery

  • Connect the battery cables to the battery terminals. Ensure correct polarity (red to positive, black to negative).
  • Tighten the connections securely.

3.4 Grounding the Generator

  • Connect the generator to an appropriate ground using a 12 AWG minimum copper wire between the generator ground terminal and a copper rod driven into the ground. This helps prevent electrical shocks.

4. Operating Instructions

4.1 Fueling the Generator

  • Gasoline: Fill the 8.0-gallon tank with clean, fresh, unleaded gasoline (minimum 87 octane, less than 10% ethanol).
  • Propane (LPG): Connect the provided 5.5 ft. LP hose and regulator to the generator's LPG inlet and to a propane tank. Ensure all connections are tight.

4.2 Starting the Generator

Ensure no electrical devices are plugged into the generator before starting.

  • 1. Select Fuel: Turn the Fuel Selector Switch to the desired fuel type (Gas or LPG).
  • 2. Choke: Move the choke lever (located on the engine) to the 'START' position.
  • 3. Start Engine:
    • Electric Start: Press and hold the Electric Start button for up to 3 seconds. The indicator light will turn red during priming.
    • Pull Start: Pull the starter cord slowly until resistance is felt, then pull rapidly.
  • 4. Run: Once the engine starts, immediately move the choke lever to the 'RUN' position. The indicator light should turn green.

5. Maintenance

Regular maintenance ensures the longevity and reliable operation of your generator.

5.1 Engine Oil

  • Check the engine oil level prior to each use or every 8 hours of operation.
  • Change the engine oil after the first 5 hours of operation (break-in period), and then every 50 hours or annually thereafter.

5.2 Air Filter

  • Inspect the air filter every 50 hours or annually. Clean or replace if dirty.

5.3 Spark Plug

  • Inspect the spark plug every 100 hours or annually. Clean or replace as needed.

5.4 Fuel System

  • Use fresh, unleaded gasoline with a minimum 87 octane rating and less than 10% ethanol.
  • For long-term storage (over 30 days), add a fuel stabilizer to the gasoline or drain the fuel tank and carburetor.
  • Always turn off the LPG resource when the generator is not in use.
