Maintenance
- Cleaning: Clean the radio and accessories with a soft, damp cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents.
- Battery Care:
- If using rechargeable NiMH batteries, fully charge them before extended storage.

- Store batteries in a cool, dry place.
- General Care:
- Avoid exposing the radios to extreme temperatures, direct sunlight, or moisture for prolonged periods.
- Do not attempt to disassemble the radio or accessories, as this will void the warranty.
- Keep the softshell carrying case clean and dry to protect the kit components.
Troubleshooting
| Problem | Possible Cause | Solution |
|---|---|---|
| No power / Radio does not turn on. | Batteries are dead or incorrectly installed. | Replace or recharge batteries. Ensure correct polarity. |
| Poor sound quality / Static. | Out of range; low battery; interference; incorrect channel/privacy code. | Move closer to other radio; recharge batteries; change channel; check privacy code settings. |
| Limited communication range. | Obstructions (buildings, terrain); weather conditions; low battery. | Move to an open area; ensure clear line of sight; recharge batteries. |
| Battery life is short. | Batteries not fully charged; old batteries; frequent transmission; continuous NOAA alert monitoring. | Ensure full charge cycle; replace old batteries; reduce transmission time; consider using alkaline batteries for longer NOAA monitoring. |
| Cannot hear NOAA weather alerts. | Not in a NOAA broadcast area; radio not set to scan weather channels. | Verify NOAA coverage in your location; ensure NOAA Weather Scan is activated. |
