1. Safety Information
Please read and understand all safety instructions before installing or operating the switch. Failure to follow these instructions may result in electric shock, fire, or serious injury.
- Always disconnect power to the circuit before installing, removing, or servicing the switch.
- Installation should be performed by a qualified electrician or technician familiar with electrical wiring and safety standards.
- Ensure the switch's electrical ratings (voltage, current) are compatible with your application.
- Do not operate the switch in wet or damp conditions unless specifically rated for such environments.
- Verify all connections are secure and properly insulated to prevent short circuits.

4. Setup and Installation
Before beginning installation, ensure all power to the circuit is disconnected at the main breaker or power source.
- Panel Preparation: Create a rectangular mounting hole in your panel with dimensions of approximately 0.870 inches by 1.160 inches. Ensure the panel thickness is suitable for the switch's snap-in tabs.
- Switch Insertion: Gently push the rocker switch into the prepared mounting hole until the snap-in tabs engage and secure the switch firmly in place.
- Wiring Connections: The switch features 6 quick-connect tab terminals. Refer to your application's wiring diagram for the correct DPDT configuration. Typically, the center terminals are for the common connection, and the outer terminals are for the two different momentary 'On' positions. Use appropriate 0.250-inch female quick-connect terminals for secure connections.
- Secure Connections: Ensure all quick-connect terminals are fully seated and provide a tight, reliable electrical connection.
- Power Restoration: Once all connections are verified and secure, restore power to the circuit.
5. Operating Instructions
The FirstPower Model 29FG35 is a momentary On/Off/Momentary On switch. This means the switch will return to the central 'Off' position when the actuator is released from either 'On' position.
- Central Position: When the rocker is in the middle, the switch is in the 'Off' state, and no current flows through the connected circuits.
- Momentary On (First Direction): Pressing one end of the rocker will activate the circuit connected to that position. The switch will remain 'On' only as long as pressure is applied. Releasing the rocker will return it to the 'Off' position.
- Momentary On (Second Direction): Pressing the opposite end of the rocker will activate a different circuit. Similar to the first direction, the switch will return to 'Off' upon release.
6. Maintenance
Regular maintenance helps ensure the longevity and reliable operation of your rocker switch.
- Cleaning: Periodically clean the exterior of the switch with a dry, soft cloth. Avoid using abrasive cleaners or solvents that could damage the plastic.
- Connection Check: Annually, or as needed, disconnect power and inspect the quick-connect terminals for any signs of corrosion, looseness, or damage. Re-secure or replace connections as necessary.
- Environmental Conditions: Ensure the switch is operating within its specified temperature range and protected from excessive moisture or dust, especially if the IP55 rating is critical for your application.
7. Troubleshooting
If you encounter issues with your FirstPower rocker switch, consider the following troubleshooting steps:
- Switch Not Responding:
- Verify that power is supplied to the circuit.
- Check all wiring connections for looseness or corrosion.
- Inspect the switch for visible damage.
- Intermittent Operation:
- Ensure quick-connect terminals are fully seated and making good contact.
- Check for any debris or foreign objects obstructing the rocker mechanism.
- Overheating:
- Confirm the load current does not exceed the switch's 20A rating.
- Ensure proper ventilation around the switch if installed in an enclosed space.
If problems persist after troubleshooting, contact a qualified technician or the manufacturer for assistance.
