6. Operation
Making Espresso
- Grind Coffee Beans: Use the included electric coffee grinder to grind fresh coffee beans. For espresso, a fine grind is recommended, but not too powdery.
- Fill Portafilter: Place the desired filter basket (single or double shot) into the portafilter. Fill the basket with ground coffee.
- Tamp: Use the measuring spoon/tamper to lightly tamp the coffee grounds. Do not press too hard to avoid clogging.
- Attach Portafilter: Insert the portafilter into the brewing head and turn it to the right until it is securely locked in place.
- Preheat: Ensure the machine is powered on and the READY indicator light is green. Place your espresso cup(s) on the drip tray, ideally warmed on the cup warmer.
- Brew: Turn the control dial to the ESPRESSO position. Espresso will begin to flow into your cup(s).
- Stop Brewing: Once the desired amount of espresso is brewed, turn the control dial back to the center 'OFF' position.

Frothing Milk
- Prepare Milk: Fill the stainless steel frothing cup with cold milk (dairy or non-dairy) to about one-third full.
- Activate Steam: Ensure the machine is powered on and the READY indicator light is green. Turn the control dial to the STEAM position. Wait for the steam wand to heat up.
- Froth Milk: Submerge the tip of the steam wand just below the surface of the milk in the frothing cup. Turn the steam knob to release steam. Move the cup up and down gently to create foam.
- Stop Steaming: Once the milk reaches the desired temperature and froth consistency, turn the steam knob off and remove the frothing cup.
- Clean Steam Wand: Immediately wipe the steam wand with a damp cloth to prevent milk residue from drying. Briefly release steam again to clear any internal blockages.

7. Cleaning and Maintenance
Regular cleaning and maintenance will ensure the longevity and optimal performance of your espresso machine.
Daily Cleaning
- Portafilter and Filter Baskets: After each use, remove the portafilter and discard used coffee grounds. Rinse the portafilter and filter baskets under running water.
- Steam Wand: As mentioned in the operation section, wipe the steam wand immediately after use and briefly release steam to clear any milk residue.
- Drip Tray: Empty and rinse the drip tray regularly.
- Exterior: Wipe the exterior of the machine with a soft, damp cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or scourers.
Descaling
Over time, mineral deposits (limescale) can build up inside the machine, affecting performance and taste. Descale your machine every 2-3 months, or more frequently if you have hard water.
- Fill the water tank with a descaling solution (e.g., white vinegar and water, or a commercial descaler) according to the descaler's instructions.
- Place a large container under the portafilter and steam wand.
- Run half of the descaling solution through the espresso function, and the other half through the steam function.
- Rinse the water tank and fill with fresh water. Repeat steps 2 and 3 with fresh water to flush out any remaining descaling solution.
8. Troubleshooting
| Problem | Possible Cause | Solution |
|---|---|---|
| No coffee flow | Coffee grounds too fine or too heavily tamped; machine clogged. | Adjust grind size or tamping pressure. Descale the machine. |
| Weak espresso | Coffee grounds too coarse or too lightly tamped. | Adjust grind size or tamping pressure. |
| No steam from wand | Steam wand clogged; machine not heated to steam temperature. | Clean steam wand. Wait for READY light to turn green after selecting STEAM. |
| Water leaking | Water tank not seated correctly; drip tray full. | Ensure water tank is properly installed. Empty drip tray. |
