4. Setup Guide

4.1 Attaching the Lens

1. Ensure both the camera and lens are powered off.
2. Remove the rear lens cap from the lens and the body cap from the camera.
3. Align the white mounting index on the lens barrel with the white mounting index on the camera body.
4. Insert the lens into the camera's lens mount and rotate it clockwise until it clicks into place. Do not force the lens.

4.2 Attaching the Lens Hood

The included LH-76B lens hood helps to block stray light and protect the front element of the lens.

1. Align the red dot on the lens hood with the red dot on the front of the lens.
2. Attach the hood and rotate it clockwise until it locks securely.

5. Operating the Lens

5.1 Zooming

Rotate the zoom ring on the lens barrel to adjust the focal length between 12mm (wide-angle) and 100mm (telephoto). The constant f4.0 aperture ensures consistent exposure throughout the zoom range.

5.2 Focusing (MF Clutch)

The lens features an MF (Manual Focus) Clutch mechanism for quick switching between autofocus and manual focus. To engage manual focus, pull the focus ring towards the camera body. This will reveal the distance scale, allowing for precise manual focusing. Push the focus ring forward to return to autofocus mode.

5.3 Image Stabilization (IS)

This lens incorporates in-lens image stabilization. When paired with a compatible OM SYSTEM camera body featuring In-Body Image Stabilization (IBIS), the two systems work in conjunction (Sync IS) to provide up to 6.5 stops of stabilization. This significantly reduces camera shake, allowing for sharp handheld images and stable video footage even at slower shutter speeds or longer focal lengths. The IS ON/OFF switch is located on the side of the lens barrel.

5.4 L-Fn Button

The L-Fn (Lens Function) button on the side of the lens can be customized via your camera's menu to quickly access various functions, such as AF Stop, Depth of Field Preview, or other frequently used settings. Refer to your camera's instruction manual for detailed customization options.

7.1 Cleaning the Lens

• Use a blower brush to remove dust and loose particles from the lens surface.
• For smudges or fingerprints, use a clean microfiber cloth specifically designed for optics. Breathe lightly on the lens surface before wiping to create a slight condensation, which aids in cleaning.
• Avoid using abrasive materials, harsh chemicals, or solvents, as these can damage the lens coatings.

• When not in use, attach both the front and rear lens caps.
• Store the lens in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures.
• If storing for extended periods, consider using a desiccant to prevent mold and mildew growth, especially in humid environments.

8.1 Lens Not Attaching Securely

• Ensure the lens and camera body mounting indexes are correctly aligned.
• Check for any obstructions or debris on the lens mount or camera body mount.
• Confirm that the lens is fully rotated clockwise until it clicks.

8.2 Autofocus Issues

• Verify that the MF Clutch mechanism is pushed forward, engaging autofocus mode.
• Check the AF/MF switch on the camera body and ensure it is set to AF.
• Clean the lens and camera contacts with a dry, lint-free cloth.
• Ensure there is sufficient light and contrast in the scene for the autofocus system to operate effectively.

8.3 Image Stabilization Not Working

• Confirm the IS switch on the lens is set to "ON".
• Check your camera's menu settings to ensure image stabilization is enabled and configured correctly for Sync IS if applicable.
• Restart the camera and re-attach the lens.
