Carson HookUpz 2.0 Universal Smartphone Optics Digiscoping Adapter (IS-200)

Instruction Manual

Introduction

The Carson HookUpz 2.0 Universal Smartphone Optics Digiscoping Adapter (IS-200) is designed to connect your smartphone to a variety of optical devices. This adapter allows you to capture images and videos through the eyepiece of your binoculars, spotting scopes, telescopes, microscopes, and monoculars. Its design ensures a secure connection between your smartphone and optic, facilitating digital recording and sharing of observations.

Setup

1. Attaching Your Smartphone

  1. Ensure your smartphone, with its case, fits within the adapter's width range (up to 3.75 inches wide).
  2. Place your smartphone into the adapter's phone clamp. The clamp features a self-centering, dual-spring mechanism for a secure grip.
  3. Adjust the horizontal alignment using the variable pitch screw to position your phone's camera lens directly over the adapter's optical opening. This is crucial for optimal viewing, especially for phones with corner or center cameras.

2. Attaching the Adapter to Optics

  1. The adapter is compatible with most optics, including binoculars, spotting scopes, telescopes, microscopes, and monoculars. The compatible eyepiece diameters must range between 25mm and 58mm.
  2. Slide the adapter's optic cam-lock over the eyepiece of your chosen optical device.
  3. Tighten the optic cam-lock to ensure a firm and stable connection. This prevents sagging and slippage during use.

  2. You should see a circular view of the optic's field of view on your phone screen.
  3. Use the fine-tune adjustment screws on the adapter to precisely center the image from the optic on your phone's screen.

  5. Adjust the focus of your optical device as needed to achieve a clear image on your smartphone screen.
