Image: The image displays all components included in the package: the digital panel meter, the through-hole current transformer, and various connecting cables, including an extension cord for the sensor.

Upon opening the package, verify that all components are present:

  • 1x Green LED digital panel meter
  • 1x Current transformer with cable
  • (Note: An extra 6.5ft extension cord for the sensor may be included as shown in the package contents image.)

Setup and Installation

Follow these steps for proper installation of the AiLi DC Combo Meter:

  1. Mounting the Meter:

The meter has dimensions of 48mm × 29mm × 23mm. Create a mounting hole of 45.5mm × 25.5mm in your desired panel or enclosure. Insert the meter into the hole until it clicks into place.

Rear view of the digital panel meter showing the circuit board and connection points.

Image: This image shows the back of the digital panel meter, revealing the circuit board and the connection terminals for power and the current transformer. This view is helpful for understanding the internal components and wiring.

  2. Connecting the Current Transformer:

The through-hole current transformer (Hall sensor) is crucial for current measurement. It has an aperture of φ20mm. Pass the wire carrying the current you wish to measure through the center of the current transformer. The current transformer can be placed on either the positive or negative side of the power circuit.

Digital panel meter with the current transformer and connecting wires, showing the meter in an unpowered state.

Image: This image displays the digital panel meter connected to its current transformer via a white ribbon cable. The meter's display is off, indicating it is not powered. Red and black wires for power input are also visible.

  3. Powering the Meter:

Connect the meter's power input wires (typically red for positive, black for negative) to a DC power source within the range of 5-120V. The meter is self-powered and does not require an isolated power supply. It features reverse polarity protection.

Digital panel meter displaying '19.8' with a red wire passing through the current transformer.

Image: The digital panel meter is shown powered on, displaying "19.8" (likely volts or amps). A red wire is threaded through the white circular current transformer, indicating a live measurement setup.

  4. Nondestructive Installation:

The design allows for nondestructive installation, making it very easy to integrate into existing systems without modifying the main power lines beyond passing them through the current transformer.

Operation

The AiLi DC Combo Meter is designed for straightforward operation, providing real-time voltage and current readings.

  • Display: The meter features a 7-segment green LED display. Once powered, it will show the measured voltage and current.
  • Measurement Range: It measures DC voltage from 5-120V and current from -30A to +30A. The negative current reading indicates discharge, while positive indicates charge.
  • Accuracy: The measurement accuracy is ±1%.
  • Sampling Rate: The meter updates readings at a sampling rate of 500 ms.
  • Applications: Ideal for use in electric vehicles, e-motorcycles, e-scooters, and for monitoring battery and electrical systems in various equipment and electromechanical devices.

Maintenance

The AiLi DC Combo Meter requires minimal maintenance to ensure long-term performance.

  • Cleaning: Use a soft, dry cloth to clean the display and casing. Avoid abrasive cleaners or solvents that could damage the plastic material.
  • Environmental Conditions: Ensure the meter is operated within its specified working temperature range (-20°C to 60°C) and protected from excessive moisture or direct sunlight.
  • Connection Integrity: Periodically check all connections to ensure they are secure and free from corrosion.
  • No User Serviceable Parts: The device contains no user-serviceable parts. Do not attempt to open or repair the meter yourself, as this will void any potential warranty and could lead to damage.

Troubleshooting

If you encounter issues with your AiLi DC Combo Meter, refer to the following common problems and solutions:

ProblemPossible CauseSolution
Display is blank or off.No power supply, incorrect wiring, or power supply outside 5-120V range.
  • Verify power connections (red to positive, black to negative).
  • Ensure input voltage is within 5-120V DC.
  • Check for loose wires or damaged cables.
Incorrect voltage or current reading.Current transformer not properly installed, faulty wiring, or measurement range exceeded.
  • Ensure the current-carrying wire passes correctly through the center of the current transformer.
  • Verify all wiring connections are secure.
  • Confirm measured values are within the -30A to +30A current range and 5-120V voltage range.
Display flickering or unstable readings.Unstable power supply or electromagnetic interference.
  • Ensure the power supply to the meter is stable.
  • Relocate the meter or current transformer away from strong electromagnetic fields if possible.

If the problem persists after attempting these solutions, please contact customer support.
