4. Setup and First Use
4.1 Unpacking and Initial Cleaning
- Remove all packaging materials from the appliance.
- Wipe all removable parts (water reservoir, pod holders, drip tray, drip grid) with a damp cloth and mild detergent. Rinse thoroughly and dry.
- Place the appliance on a stable, flat surface.
4.2 Filling the Water Reservoir
- Remove the water reservoir from the appliance.
- Fill the reservoir with fresh, cold tap water up to the 'MAX' indication. Do not exceed the maximum fill line.
- Place the water reservoir back onto the appliance, ensuring it is securely seated.
4.3 First Use (Rinsing Cycle)
Before brewing coffee for the first time, perform a rinsing cycle to clean the internal system.
- Ensure the water reservoir is filled.
- Place a bowl or cup under the coffee spout.
- Press the On/Off button. The light will flash, indicating the machine is heating up.
- Once the light is steady, press the 2-cup button to start the rinsing cycle. No coffee pod is needed for this step.
- The machine will dispense hot water. Repeat this process once or twice.
- Your Senseo Quadrante is now ready for use.
5. Operating Instructions
5.1 Brewing Coffee
- Ensure the water reservoir is filled with fresh water.
- Open the lid of the pod holder.
- Place one Senseo coffee pod in the 1-cup pod holder for a single cup, or two Senseo coffee pods in the 2-cup pod holder for two cups. Ensure the pod is centered.
- Close the lid firmly until you hear a click.
- Place one or two cups under the coffee spout.
- Press the On/Off button. The light will flash during heating and become steady when ready.
- Press the 1-cup button for one cup or the 2-cup button for two cups. The machine will start brewing.
- Once brewing is complete, the machine will automatically switch off to save energy.
5.2 Adjusting Drip Tray Height
The drip tray can be adjusted to accommodate different cup sizes.
- Gently pull the drip tray forward to detach it from its current position.
- Re-attach the drip tray at a higher or lower slot to match the height of your cup.

6. Cleaning and Maintenance
6.1 Daily Cleaning
- After each use, remove and empty the used coffee pod(s).
- Empty and rinse the drip tray and drip grid.
- Wipe the coffee spout and the exterior of the machine with a damp cloth.
- Rinse the water reservoir daily.
6.2 Descaling
Regular descaling is crucial for maintaining the performance and lifespan of your Senseo machine. The frequency depends on water hardness and usage.
- Use a descaling agent specifically designed for coffee machines. Follow the instructions provided with the descaling agent.
- Typically, descaling involves filling the water reservoir with a descaling solution and running several brewing cycles without coffee pods.
- After descaling, rinse the machine thoroughly by running several cycles with fresh water to remove any descaling residue.
