Maintenance
Keeping Your Device Clean
- Regularly clean your band and wrist, especially after working out or sweating.
- Rinse the band with water or wipe it with a small amount of rubbing alcohol.
- Do NOT use hand soap, body soap, dish soap, hand sanitizers, cleaning wipes, or household cleaners, as these can get trapped beneath the band and irritate skin.
- Always dry the band thoroughly before putting it back on.
Keeping Your Device Dry
- While Fitbit devices are water resistant, prolonged wear of a wet band can irritate your skin.
- If your elastomer band gets wet (e.g., after sweating or showering), rinse and dry it thoroughly before re-wearing.
- Ensure your skin is dry before putting your band back on.
Wearing Your Device
- Do not wear the band too tightly. It should be loose enough to move back and forth on your wrist.
- For better heart rate readings during exercise, wear the band securely (but not too tight) about 2-3 finger widths above your wrist bone.
- Lower the band on your wrist and loosen it after exercise.
- Give your wrist a rest by removing the band for an hour after extended wear to prevent rubbing and pressure irritation.
Troubleshooting
Common Issues
- Device Not Charging: Ensure the charging cable is securely connected to both the device and a power source. Check for any debris or corrosion on the charging contacts of both the device and the cable. Try a different USB port or power adapter.
- Syncing Problems: Verify that Bluetooth is enabled on your smartphone or computer. Ensure the Fitbit app is up to date. Restart both your Fitbit Charge 2 and your syncing device.
- Inaccurate Readings: Ensure the device is worn correctly, not too loose or too tight. Clean the heart rate sensor on the back of the device. For GPS-related issues, ensure your smartphone's GPS is active and connected to the Charge 2.
- Screen Unresponsive: Try restarting your Fitbit Charge 2. If the issue persists, ensure the device is charged.
Restarting Your Device
If your Fitbit Charge 2 is not responding, you may need to restart it. Connect your Charge 2 to the charging cable. Press and hold the button on your charging cable for approximately four seconds. Release the button. When you see the Fitbit logo and the tracker vibrates, the tracker has restarted.
