  2. Open the compartment and insert 4 D-cell batteries, ensuring correct polarity (+/-).
  3. Securely close the battery compartment to maintain weather resistance.

2. Mounting the Spotlight

Choose a desired location for installation, such as garages, doorways, sheds, fences, or trees. Ensure the mounting surface is stable.

  1. Position the mounting base against the desired surface.
  2. Mark the screw hole locations through the base.

Operating Instructions

Motion Activation

The spotlight is equipped with a passive infrared (PIR) motion sensor. It will automatically turn on when it detects movement within its detection zone in low-light conditions. The light will remain on as long as motion is detected and will turn off automatically after a set period of no motion.

NetBright Synchronization

NetBright technology allows multiple Mr Beams NetBright lights to communicate. When one NetBright light detects motion and activates, all other NetBright lights on the same network will also turn on, providing broader and more effective illumination.

  1. Setting up Networks/Zones: The MBN3000 allows for the creation of up to 4 distinct networks (zones). Refer to the small switch or button on the unit (location may vary slightly) to select a network channel (e.g., A, B, C, D).
  2. Pairing Lights: Ensure all lights intended to work together are set to the same network channel. When motion activates one light, others on that channel will synchronize.

Maintenance

Battery Replacement

When the light output diminishes or the unit stops activating, it is time to replace the batteries. The MBN3000 requires 4 D-cell batteries.

  1. Remove the spotlight unit from its mounting base by sliding it off.
  2. Open the battery compartment.
  3. Remove old batteries and dispose of them according to local regulations.
  4. Insert new D-cell batteries, observing correct polarity.
  5. Close the battery compartment securely and reattach the unit to its mounting base.

Cleaning

Periodically clean the exterior of the spotlight, especially the motion sensor lens and LED covers, with a soft, damp cloth. Avoid using abrasive cleaners or solvents, as these can damage the unit or its weather seal.

Weatherproofing

While designed to be weatherproof, ensure the battery compartment is always securely closed after battery changes to prevent water ingress. Regularly inspect the unit for any visible damage that might compromise its weather resistance.

Troubleshooting

  • Light does not turn on:
    • Check battery installation and ensure batteries are fresh.
    • Verify the motion sensor is not obstructed and is aimed correctly.
    • Ensure it is dark enough for the light to activate (it will not turn on in bright conditions).
  • Lights are not synchronizing (NetBright):
    • Confirm all lights intended to synchronize are set to the same network channel.
    • Ensure lights are within the effective wireless range (typically up to 150 feet, but can be affected by obstacles).
  • Short battery life:
    • Frequent activation in high-traffic areas will reduce battery life. Consider repositioning if unnecessary activations occur.
    • Ensure high-quality D-cell batteries are used.
  • Motion detection issues (too sensitive/not sensitive enough):
    • Adjust the angle of the motion sensor. Avoid aiming it at heat sources or areas with constant movement (e.g., swaying branches).
    • The detection zone is typically narrow; ensure the sensor covers the desired area.
  • Internal corrosion:
    • If internal corrosion is observed, especially in the battery compartment, ensure the compartment seal is intact and properly closed. Clean any minor corrosion with a cotton swab and vinegar, then dry thoroughly. Severe corrosion may indicate a compromised seal or faulty unit.
