1. Introduction
The PEAKMETER PM6860DR is an automatic electric socket tester designed to quickly verify the correct wiring connection of a socket. It identifies whether neutral, live, and earth wires are correctly connected and indicates if any wire is missing. This device also includes an RCD (Residual Current Device) test function for enhanced safety verification. Its compact size and lightweight design make it a practical diagnostic tool for 230V electrical systems.

2. Safety Information
- This device is designed for 230V electrical systems only. Do not use it with other voltage systems.
- Always ensure the socket tester is in good condition before use. Do not use if the casing is damaged.
- Do not attempt to open or modify the device. There are no user-serviceable parts inside.
- The RCD test function should only be performed by a competent person. It will trip the RCD, interrupting power to the circuit.
- If the tester indicates a wiring fault, consult a qualified electrician immediately. Do not use the socket until the fault is corrected.
- Keep out of reach of children.
3. Product Features
- Rapidly detects correct socket wiring.
- Identifies missing neutral, live, and earth wire connections.
- Includes RCD test function for additional safety checks.
- Clear indicator lights for easy fault diagnosis.
- Compact and lightweight design for portability.
4. Setup
The PEAKMETER PM6860DR socket tester is ready for use out of the box. No batteries or complex assembly are required as it draws power directly from the socket being tested. Ensure you have the correct plug type (EU, UK, or US) for your region.

5. Operating Instructions
5.1. Wiring Test
- Plug the PEAKMETER PM6860DR directly into the 230V socket you wish to test.
- Observe the indicator lights on the front panel of the tester.
- Refer to the indicator light pattern table below to determine the wiring status of the socket.

5.2. Indicator Light Patterns
| Indicator Lights (Left to Right) | Status | Description |
|---|---|---|
| CORRECT | The socket is wired correctly. | |
| MISSING EARTH | The earth wire is not connected. This is a serious fault. | |
| LIVE EARTH REVERSE | The live and earth wires are reversed. This is a dangerous fault. | |
| LIVE NEUTRAL REVERSE | The live and neutral wires are reversed. | |
| MISSING NEUTRAL | The neutral wire is not connected. |
Note: This unit will not detect Earth Neutral Reverse.
5.3. RCD Test
- Ensure the socket is wired correctly according to the wiring test (all green lights for 'CORRECT').
- Press the RCD test button located on the side of the tester.
- A functional RCD should trip, cutting power to the circuit. If the RCD does not trip, it indicates a fault with the RCD or the wiring.
- Reset the RCD after testing.

6. Maintenance
- Clean the device with a soft, dry cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents.
- Store the tester in a dry environment, away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures.
- Inspect the plug pins and casing for any damage before each use.
7. Troubleshooting
- No lights illuminate when plugged in: Ensure the socket has power. Check the circuit breaker. If the socket has power and no lights illuminate, the tester may be faulty or the wiring issue is severe (e.g., no live connection).
- RCD does not trip during test: This indicates a potential fault with the RCD itself or the electrical installation. Do not rely on this RCD for protection and consult a qualified electrician immediately.
- Inconsistent readings: Ensure the tester is fully inserted into the socket. Test multiple sockets to confirm consistent behavior.
