Mr Beams MB3000-WHT-02 Wireless Motion Sensing Dual Head Security Floodlight Instruction Manual

1. Introduction and Overview

The Mr Beams MB3000-WHT-02 is a battery-powered, wireless motion-sensing security floodlight designed for outdoor use. It features dual adjustable heads that provide 500 lumens of bright, white LED light (5000K color temperature) to illuminate dark areas. The integrated motion sensor detects movement up to 30 feet away and automatically turns the light off after 20 seconds of no activity, conserving battery life. Its weather-resistant design (IPX6) ensures durability in various outdoor conditions.

4. Setup and Installation

4.1 Battery Installation

The floodlight requires 4 D-cell batteries (not included) for operation. Follow these steps to install the batteries:

  1. Locate the battery compartment on the back of the floodlight unit.
  2. Open the battery compartment cover. A large flat screwdriver may be needed.
  3. Insert 4 D-cell batteries, ensuring correct polarity (+/-) as indicated inside the compartment.
  4. Securely close the battery compartment cover.

4.2 Mounting the Floodlight

The floodlight is designed for easy DIY installation. It can be mounted on walls, over doorways, garages, walkways, sheds, fences, or trees. Use the included mounting hardware.

  1. Choose a desired mounting location. Consider areas where motion detection is needed and where the light can be directed effectively.
  2. Separate the mounting plate from the floodlight unit. This is typically done by pressing a tab and sliding the unit off the plate.
  3. Position the mounting plate on the chosen surface and mark the screw holes.
  4. Drill pilot holes if necessary, then secure the mounting plate using the provided screws and anchors.

5. Operating Instructions

5.1 Automatic Operation

The Mr Beams MB3000-WHT-02 floodlight operates automatically. It will activate only when motion is detected in a dark environment. The integrated motion sensor has a detection range of up to 30 feet and a 120° angle of detection.

  • When motion is detected, the dual LED heads will illuminate.
  • The light will remain on for 20 seconds after motion ceases. If motion is continuously detected, the light will stay on until motion stops, then turn off after 20 seconds.
  • The light will not activate in bright conditions to conserve battery life.

5.2 Adjusting Light Heads

The two LED light heads are independently adjustable, allowing you to customize the light coverage for your specific area.

  • Each head can pivot 180 degrees up and down.
  • Each head can pivot 135 degrees side to side.
  • Gently adjust the heads by hand to direct the light beams as desired.

The estimated battery life is approximately 1 year with an average use of 8 activations per day. When the light output diminishes or the unit stops activating, it is time to replace the batteries.

  1. Remove the floodlight unit from its mounting plate.
  2. Open the battery compartment cover.
  3. Remove the old D-cell batteries and dispose of them responsibly.
  4. Insert 4 new D-cell batteries, observing correct polarity.
  5. Securely close the battery compartment cover and reattach the unit to the mounting plate.

6.2 Cleaning

Periodically clean the lens and motion sensor cover with a soft, damp cloth to ensure optimal light output and motion detection performance. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents.

7. Troubleshooting

  • Light not turning on:
    • Check if batteries are installed correctly and are fresh. Replace if necessary.
    • Ensure the environment is dark enough for the light to activate. The light will not turn on in bright conditions.
    • Verify that the motion sensor is not obstructed by dirt, debris, or objects.
    • Test the motion sensor by walking within its detection range.
  • Light not turning off:
    • Ensure there is no continuous motion within the sensor's detection range.
    • Check the motion sensor for any debris or spiderwebs that might be causing false triggers.
  • Dim light output:
    • Replace the batteries with a fresh set of 4 D-cell batteries.
    • Clean the LED lenses to remove any accumulated dirt or grime.
