Setup

Powering the ER300

The ER300 can be powered by its internal 2600mAh rechargeable Li-Ion battery, 6 AA batteries (not included), solar panel, or the hand crank.

  • Internal Battery Charging: Connect the radio to a USB power source (e.g., wall adapter, computer) using the provided USB cable. The battery indicator on the display will show the charging status. The integrated solar panel on top of the unit can also provide a trickle charge, especially useful for maintaining charge in sunlight.
  • AA Battery Installation: Open the battery compartment located on the back of the unit. Insert 6 AA batteries, ensuring correct polarity as indicated inside the compartment. The internal Li-Ion battery will be used first if both power sources are present.
  • Hand Crank: Extend the hand crank handle located on the side of the unit and rotate it clockwise or counter-clockwise to generate power. Cranking for approximately 1 minute can provide several minutes of radio operation or flashlight use.

Initial Use

Before first use, it is recommended to fully charge the internal Li-Ion battery using the USB cable to ensure optimal performance and battery longevity.

Charging External Devices

Connect your smartphone, tablet, or other USB-powered device to the USB output port on the ER300 using your device's charging cable. The internal 2600mAh battery of the ER300 will provide power to charge your device, making it a useful power bank in emergencies.

Ultrasonic Dog Whistle

The ultrasonic dog whistle feature is designed to assist rescue teams in locating individuals during an emergency situation. Activate this feature by pressing the M button (Mode button) or as indicated in the quick start guide. This emits a high-frequency sound that can be heard by dogs, aiding in search and rescue efforts.

Maintenance

  • Keep the unit dry and clean. Wipe the exterior with a soft, damp cloth. Avoid using harsh chemicals or abrasive cleaners.
  • Avoid exposing the unit to extreme temperatures, direct sunlight for prolonged periods, or high humidity.
  • If storing the ER300 for an extended period, fully charge the internal Li-Ion battery and remove any AA batteries to prevent leakage.
  • Regularly inspect the hand crank for any obstructions or damage.
