1. Important Safeguards

When using electrical appliances, basic safety precautions should always be followed to reduce the risk of fire, electric shock, and/or injury to persons, including the following:

  • Read all instructions.
  • Do not touch hot surfaces. Use handles or knobs.
  • To protect against fire, electric shock, and injury to persons, do not immerse cord, plugs, or appliance in water or other liquid.
  • Close supervision is necessary when any appliance is used by or near children.
  • Unplug from outlet when not in use and before cleaning. Allow to cool before putting on or taking off parts, and before cleaning the appliance.
  • Do not operate any appliance with a damaged cord or plug, or after the appliance malfunctions or has been damaged in any manner. Contact customer support for examination, repair, or adjustment.
  • The use of accessory attachments not recommended by the appliance manufacturer may result in fire, electric shock, or injury to persons.
  • Do not use outdoors.
  • Do not let cord hang over edge of table or counter, or touch hot surfaces.
  • Do not place on or near a hot gas or electric burner, or in a heated oven.
  • To disconnect, turn any control to 'OFF', then remove plug from wall outlet.
  • Do not use appliance for other than intended use.
  • Do not clean carafe with cleansers, steel wool pads, or other abrasive materials.
  • Scalding may occur if the lid is removed during the brewing cycles.
  • This appliance is for household use only.

2. Product Overview and Features

3. Setup and First Use

3.1 Unpacking

  1. Carefully remove all packaging materials, labels, and stickers from the coffee maker.
  2. Remove any plastic bands from the power cord and unwind the cord.

3.2 Initial Cleaning Cycle

Before first use, it is recommended to run a cleaning cycle to remove any manufacturing residues.

  1. Fill the water reservoir with fresh, cold water up to the 12-cup mark.
  2. Place an empty paper filter into the removable brew basket, or ensure the permanent filter (if included) is in place.
  3. Close the lid and place the empty carafe on the warming plate.
  4. Plug the coffee maker into a standard electrical outlet.
  5. Press the ON/OFF button to start a full brewing cycle.
  6. Once the cycle is complete, discard the water from the carafe and the filter.
  7. Rinse the carafe and brew basket with clean water.

4. Operating Instructions

4.1 Setting the Clock

  1. Plug the coffee maker into an electrical outlet. The digital display will flash '12:00'.
  2. Press the HOUR button until the correct hour is displayed. The 'PM' indicator will illuminate for PM hours.
  3. Press the MIN button until the correct minute is displayed.
  4. The clock will set automatically after a few seconds of inactivity.

4.2 Brewing Coffee

  1. Open the top lid.
  2. Fill the water reservoir with fresh, cold water using the Easy-View Water Window as a guide for the desired number of cups.
  3. Place a basket-style paper filter (or permanent filter) into the removable brew basket.
  4. Add the desired amount of ground coffee to the filter. A general guideline is 1 tablespoon of coffee per cup. Adjust to taste.
  5. Close the top lid securely.
  6. Place the empty carafe with its lid on the warming plate.
  7. Press the ON/OFF button to begin brewing. The indicator light will illuminate.
  8. The Sneak-A-Cup™ feature allows you to temporarily remove the carafe to pour a cup before brewing is complete. Replace the carafe within 20 seconds to prevent overflow.
  9. Once brewing is complete, the coffee maker will automatically keep the coffee warm for two hours before shutting off.

4.3 Programming Auto Brew

You can program the coffee maker to start brewing at a specific time.

  1. Prepare the coffee maker for brewing as described in steps 1-6 of '4.2 Brewing Coffee'.
  2. Press the PROG button. The display will flash '12:00'.
  3. Press the HOUR button until the desired auto-brew hour is displayed.
  4. Press the MIN button until the desired auto-brew minute is displayed.
  5. Press the PROG button again to confirm the programmed time. The 'AUTO' indicator light will illuminate.
  6. To activate the auto-brew function, press the AUTO button. The 'AUTO' indicator light will turn on.
  7. The coffee maker will begin brewing at the programmed time.
  8. To cancel auto-brew, press the AUTO button again.

5. Maintenance and Cleaning

Regular cleaning ensures optimal performance and extends the life of your coffee maker.

5.1 Daily Cleaning

  1. Always unplug the appliance and allow it to cool before cleaning.
  2. Wash the removable brew basket and carafe in warm, soapy water. Rinse thoroughly or wash on the top rack of a dishwasher.
  3. Wipe the exterior surface of the coffee maker with a soft, damp cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or scouring pads.
  4. Do not immerse the coffee maker in water or any other liquid.

5.2 Descaling (Mineral Deposit Removal)

Mineral deposits from water can build up in your coffee maker and affect its performance. Descale your coffee maker every 60 brews or monthly, depending on water hardness.

  1. Fill the carafe to the 6-cup mark with white vinegar, then fill to the 12-cup mark with cold water.
  2. Pour the vinegar and water mixture into the water reservoir.
  3. Place an empty paper filter in the brew basket and close the lid.
  4. Place the empty carafe on the warming plate.
  5. Press the ON/OFF button to start a brewing cycle.
  6. Allow half of the mixture to brew through, then press the ON/OFF button to turn off the coffee maker and let it soak for at least 15 minutes.
  7. Press the ON/OFF button again to complete the brewing cycle.
  8. Discard the mixture from the carafe and the filter.
  9. Fill the water reservoir with fresh, cold water and run a full brewing cycle to rinse the coffee maker. Repeat this rinsing cycle at least twice.

6. Troubleshooting
