Important Safeguards
When using electrical appliances, basic safety precautions should always be followed to reduce the risk of fire, electric shock, and/or injury to persons, including the following:
- Read all instructions before operating the coffee maker.
- Do not touch hot surfaces. Use handles or knobs.
- To protect against electric shock, do not immerse cord, plugs, or the coffee maker in water or other liquid.
- Close supervision is necessary when any appliance is used by or near children.
- Unplug from outlet when not in use and before cleaning. Allow to cool before putting on or taking off parts, and before cleaning the appliance.
- Do not operate any appliance with a damaged cord or plug, or after the appliance malfunctions or has been damaged in any manner.
- The use of accessory attachments not recommended by the appliance manufacturer may result in fire, electric shock, or injury to persons.
- Do not use outdoors.
- Do not let cord hang over edge of table or counter, or touch hot surfaces.
- Do not place on or near a hot gas or electric burner, or in a heated oven.
- Always attach plug to appliance first, then plug cord into the wall outlet. To disconnect, turn any control to 'off', then remove plug from wall outlet.
- Do not use appliance for other than intended use.
- The carafe is designed for use with this appliance. It must never be used on a range top.
- Do not place a hot carafe on a wet or cold surface.
- Do not use a cracked carafe or a carafe having a loose or weakened handle.
- Do not clean carafe with cleansers, steel wool pads, or other abrasive material.

Control Panel Functions

Setup
Unpacking
- Carefully remove all packaging materials from the coffee maker.
- Check that all components are present and undamaged.
Initial Cleaning (Before First Use)
- Wash the glass carafe and removable filter basket in warm, soapy water. Rinse thoroughly and dry.
- Wipe the exterior of the coffee maker with a soft, damp cloth.
- Fill the water reservoir with fresh water to the 12-cup mark. Do not add coffee grounds.
- Place the empty filter basket and carafe in position.
- Plug the coffee maker into a power outlet and press the ON/OFF button to run a full brewing cycle with only water.
- Discard the water from the carafe. Repeat this process 2-3 times to ensure thorough cleaning.
Operating Instructions
Setting the Clock
- Plug the coffee maker into a standard electrical outlet. The LCD display will flash '12:00'.
- Press the HR button to set the current hour. Hold to advance quickly.
- Press the MIN button to set the current minute. Hold to advance quickly.
- The clock is now set.

Brewing Coffee
- Open the lid and fill the water reservoir with fresh, cold water to the desired level, indicated by the water level indicator. Do not exceed the 'MAX' line.
- Place the removable filter basket into its holder.
- Add the desired amount of ground coffee into the filter basket. A general guideline is one tablespoon of coffee grounds per cup, but adjust to your preference.
- Close the lid securely.
- Place the glass carafe onto the warming plate. Ensure it is properly seated.
- Press the ON/OFF button. The indicator light will illuminate, and brewing will begin.
- Once brewing is complete, the coffee maker will automatically switch to the 'keep warm' function. The warming plate will keep the coffee hot for a period before automatically shutting off.

Using the Programmable Timer (Delayed Start)
- First, ensure the current time is set correctly (refer to 'Setting the Clock').
- Prepare the coffee maker for brewing as described in 'Brewing Coffee' (fill water, add grounds, place carafe).
- Press the PROG button. The display will show 'PROG' and flash '12:00'.
- Use the HR and MIN buttons to set the desired time for the coffee maker to start brewing.
- Once the desired brew time is set, press the AUTO button. The 'AUTO' indicator light will illuminate.
- The coffee maker will now automatically start brewing at the programmed time.
Maintenance and Cleaning
Daily Cleaning
- Always unplug the coffee maker from the electrical outlet and allow it to cool completely before cleaning.
- Remove the glass carafe and filter basket. Discard used coffee grounds.
- Wash the carafe and filter basket in warm, soapy water. Rinse thoroughly and dry. These parts may also be top-rack dishwasher safe (check product manual for specific details).
- Wipe the exterior of the coffee maker, warming plate, and water reservoir area with a soft, damp cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or scouring pads.
- Never immerse the main unit of the coffee maker in water or any other liquid.

Descaling (Mineral Deposit Removal)
Mineral deposits (calcium) can build up in your coffee maker over time, affecting its performance and coffee taste. Descale your coffee maker regularly, depending on water hardness and frequency of use (e.g., every 2-4 weeks).
- Fill the water reservoir with a mixture of white vinegar and cold water (e.g., 1 part vinegar to 2 parts water).
- Place an empty filter basket and the carafe in position.
- Press the ON/OFF button to start a brewing cycle. Allow half of the solution to brew through, then turn off the coffee maker and let it soak for at least 15-20 minutes.
- Turn the coffee maker back on and allow the remaining solution to brew through.
- Discard the vinegar solution from the carafe.
- Fill the water reservoir with fresh, cold water and run 2-3 full brewing cycles with only water to rinse out any remaining vinegar taste.
