Introduction

The Burgess 1443 Propane Insect Fogger is a portable, lightweight device designed for effective control of mosquitoes, biting flies, and other flying insects in outdoor residential areas. It operates by producing microscopic particles of insecticide, which penetrate deep into landscaped areas where insects hide, creating a mosquito-free zone for up to 6 hours. The fog disperses quickly, typically within 5 minutes, allowing you to enjoy your outdoor space.

Safety Information

WARNING: This product contains chemicals known to the State of California to cause cancer and birth defects or other reproductive harm. Always read and follow all instructions and safety precautions provided with the insecticide product you are using. Use only with Black Flag, Cutter, or Repel branded fogging insecticides. For outdoor residential use only. Keep out of reach of children and pets. Avoid direct contact with skin and eyes. Do not use near open flames or heat sources other than the fogger's heating element.

Setup

1. Prepare Insecticide Reservoir: Unscrew the cap from the 40 oz. insecticide reservoir. Carefully pour the recommended Black Flag, Cutter, or Repel branded fogging insecticide into the reservoir. Do not overfill. Securely re-attach the cap.
2. Attach Propane Cylinder: Ensure the fogger's gas valve is in the "OFF" position. Screw a standard 14.1 oz. tall-style propane cylinder (sold separately) into the designated port on the fogger. Hand-tighten only to ensure a secure, leak-free connection.
3. Check for Leaks: Before ignition, check all connections for gas leaks. If a leak is detected, tighten connections or replace the cylinder if necessary.

Operating Instructions

1. Ignition: Turn the propane cylinder valve to the "ON" position. Push and hold the "IGNITE" button until the heating element glows red. This indicates the unit is warming up.
2. Warm-up: Allow the fogger to warm up for approximately 2 minutes. The heating element should maintain a red glow.
3. Fogging: Once warmed up, press the trigger to dispense the insecticide fog. The fogger dispenses a 10-foot cone of odorless fog.
4. Application: Treat an average 5,000 square foot yard in less than 10 minutes. Walk slowly and direct the fog into dense foliage, under decks, and other areas where mosquitoes and biting flies hide. The fog penetrates deep into these areas, killing insects on contact.
5. Post-Application: After fogging, release the trigger and turn the propane cylinder valve to the "OFF" position. Allow the unit to cool completely before storing.

Maintenance

• Cleaning: After each use, ensure the fogger is cool. Empty any remaining insecticide from the reservoir. Clean the exterior of the fogger with a damp cloth. Do not immerse the unit in water.
• Storage: Store the fogger in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight and out of reach of children and pets. Disconnect the propane cylinder before storage.

Troubleshooting

• No Fog Production:
  • Check if the propane cylinder is properly attached and the valve is open.
  • Ensure the heating element is glowing red. If not, re-ignite or check propane supply.
  • Verify the insecticide reservoir contains liquid and the cap is securely fastened.
• Weak Fog:
  • Allow additional warm-up time for the heating element.
  • Ensure the fogger is used with recommended fogging insecticides.
