OMEGA 29038 Service Jack User Manual
Model: 29038 | Brand: Omega Lift Equipment
1. Introduction
This manual provides essential information for the safe and effective operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of your OMEGA 29038 Service Jack. The OMEGA 29038 is a heavy-duty, low-profile 3.5-ton floor jack designed for lifting vehicles. It features a "Magic Lift" system for rapid no-load lifting and a robust construction for durability and stability.
Important Safety Information: Always read and understand all instructions and warnings before operating this equipment. Failure to follow these instructions may result in serious injury or property damage. This jack is a lifting device only; always use appropriate jack stands to support the vehicle after lifting.
2. Product Overview and Components
The OMEGA 29038 Service Jack is engineered for reliable performance. Familiarize yourself with its key components:
- Saddle: The contact point with the vehicle's lifting area. The 4-3/4 inch diameter swivel saddle provides easy positioning.
- Lift Arm: The primary lifting mechanism.
- Handle: Used for pumping the jack to lift and for maneuvering.
- Release Valve: Controls the lowering speed of the jack.
- Wheels/Casters: Large front wheels and rear swivel casters for easy maneuverability.
- Frame: Heavy-gauge construction with flanged side plates for strength and rigidity.

3. Setup and Initial Preparation
Before first use, ensure the jack is properly assembled and prepared.
- Unpacking: Carefully remove the jack and all components from the packaging. Verify that all parts listed in the "What's in the Box" section are present (3.5 Ton Floor Jack, Handle).
- Handle Assembly: Insert the handle into the handle socket at the rear of the jack. Secure it according to the instructions provided with the jack (typically by tightening a set screw or pin).
- Purging Air from Hydraulic System (Bleeding): Air can become trapped in the hydraulic system during shipping or storage, affecting performance.
- Turn the release valve counter-clockwise to the fully open position.
- Pump the handle rapidly for 10-15 full strokes without a load.
- Turn the release valve clockwise to the closed position.
- Pump the handle until the lift arm reaches its maximum height.
- Open the release valve to lower the jack completely. Repeat this process 2-3 times to ensure all air is purged.
- Inspection: Before each use, inspect the jack for any signs of damage, leaks, or loose parts. Do not use the jack if it appears damaged.
4. Operating Instructions
Always operate the jack on a hard, level surface. Ensure the vehicle is in park with the parking brake engaged and wheels chocked.
4.1. Lifting a Vehicle
- Positioning: Locate the vehicle manufacturer's recommended lifting points. Position the jack's saddle directly under the designated lifting point. The low-profile design allows access to vehicles with minimal ground clearance.
- Closing the Release Valve: Turn the handle clockwise until the release valve is fully closed. This prepares the hydraulic system for lifting.
- Lifting: Pump the handle up and down with full strokes. The "Magic Lift" feature provides rapid, no-load lifting to the jacking point, then lifts in approximately 1/4" to 3/4" increments under load. Continue pumping until the vehicle is raised to the desired height.
- Secure with Jack Stands: IMMEDIATELY place appropriately rated jack stands under the vehicle's designated support points. Never rely solely on the hydraulic jack to support a vehicle.
- Slightly Lower onto Stands: Slowly open the release valve (turn counter-clockwise) to allow the vehicle to rest securely on the jack stands. Once the vehicle is stable on the stands, fully lower the jack and remove it.
4.2. Lowering a Vehicle
- Reposition Jack: Carefully position the jack's saddle under the vehicle's lifting point, ensuring it makes secure contact.
- Lift Off Stands: Pump the handle a few times to slightly raise the vehicle off the jack stands.
- Remove Jack Stands: Remove the jack stands from under the vehicle.
- Controlled Lowering: Slowly and carefully turn the handle counter-clockwise to open the release valve. The metered release system and U-joint release mechanism allow for precise load control during lowering. Do not open the valve too quickly, as this can cause the vehicle to drop rapidly.
- Full Lowering: Continue to open the valve until the vehicle is fully lowered to the ground. Once lowered, remove the jack.
5. Maintenance
Proper maintenance ensures the longevity and safe operation of your service jack.
- Lubrication: Periodically lubricate all moving parts, pivot points, and wheel axles with light machine oil.
- Hydraulic Fluid Level: Check the hydraulic fluid level every six months or as needed. To check, fully lower the jack, remove the oil filler plug, and ensure the fluid is level with the bottom of the filler hole. Use only high-quality hydraulic jack oil. Do not use brake fluid or motor oil.
- Cleaning: Keep the jack clean and free of dirt, grease, and corrosive materials. Wipe down the ram and pump mechanism after each use.
- Storage: Store the jack in a fully lowered position in a clean, dry area.
- Inspection: Regularly inspect for damaged or worn parts. Replace any damaged components immediately.
