1. Introduction

This manual provides essential instructions for the safe and proper use of your Thomas & Friends TrackMaster Winged Thomas motorized toy train. Please read this manual thoroughly before assembly and operation, and retain it for future reference.

3. Safety Information

  • Adult Supervision Recommended: This product contains small parts and requires battery installation. Adult supervision is advised during play.
  • Battery Safety: Do not mix old and new batteries. Do not mix alkaline, standard (carbon-zinc), or rechargeable (nickel-cadmium) batteries. Insert batteries with correct polarity. Remove exhausted batteries promptly. Do not short-circuit battery terminals.
  • Choking Hazard: Not suitable for children under 36 months due to small parts.
  • Track Use: Use only on compatible TrackMaster tracks. Operation on other surfaces may cause damage to the train or track.

4. Setup

4.1 Battery Installation

  1. Locate the battery compartment on the underside of the Winged Thomas motorized train.
  2. Using a Phillips head screwdriver (not included), unscrew the battery compartment cover.
  3. Insert 2 x AA (LR6) alkaline batteries (not included) into the compartment, ensuring correct polarity (+/-).
  4. Replace the battery compartment cover and secure it with the screw.

4.2 Attaching Coaches

To attach Annie and Clarabel to Winged Thomas, align the hook on the front of the coach with the loop on the back of the preceding train car or engine. Gently push them together until they click securely. To detach, pull them apart.

5. Operating Instructions

5.1 Powering On/Off

Locate the ON/OFF switch on the top or side of the Winged Thomas engine. Flip the switch to the 'ON' position to start the train's motor. Flip it to the 'OFF' position to stop the train.

5.2 Engaging Wings and Spoiler

Winged Thomas features retractable wings and a jet-like spoiler. The wings can be manually folded out from the sides of Thomas's cab. The spoiler can be manually popped up from behind his coal bin. These features are for imaginative play and do not affect the train's motorized movement.

5.3 Running on TrackMaster Tracks

Place the Winged Thomas train, with coaches attached, onto a compatible TrackMaster track layout. Ensure all wheels are properly seated on the rails. Flip the ON/OFF switch to 'ON' to watch Thomas race forward along the track.

6. Maintenance

6.1 Cleaning

To clean the train and coaches, wipe them with a soft, damp cloth. Do not immerse the motorized train in water. Avoid using harsh chemicals or abrasive cleaners.

6.2 Battery Replacement

When the train's speed decreases significantly or it stops moving, it is time to replace the batteries. Follow the battery installation steps in Section 4.1.

6.3 Storage

When not in use for extended periods, remove the batteries from the motorized train to prevent leakage. Store the train and coaches in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight.

7. Troubleshooting

  • Train does not move:
    • Ensure the ON/OFF switch is in the 'ON' position.
    • Check battery installation for correct polarity.
    • Replace old or depleted batteries with new AA alkaline batteries.
    • Ensure the train is properly seated on the TrackMaster tracks.
  • Train moves slowly:
    • Batteries may be low; replace them with new AA alkaline batteries.
    • Check for any debris or hair caught in the wheels or gears.
  • Coaches detach frequently:
    • Ensure coaches are securely connected to the train or other coaches.
    • Inspect the hooks and loops for damage.
