Operating Instructions

1. Brushing Technique

Wet the brush head and apply a small amount of toothpaste. Place the brush head against your teeth at a slight angle towards the gumline. Turn on the toothbrush. Guide the brush head slowly from tooth to tooth, holding it in place for a few seconds on each tooth before moving to the next. Do not scrub hard.

2. Pressure Sensor

The toothbrush features a visible pressure sensor. If you brush too hard, the red light on the handle will illuminate, and the pulsation will stop. Reduce pressure to turn off the light and resume normal pulsation.

3. Professional Timer and Quadrant Timer

The built-in timer ensures you brush for the dentist-recommended 2 minutes. A short stuttering sound indicates when to move to the next quadrant of your mouth (every 30 seconds), and a longer stuttering sound signals the completion of the 2-minute brushing time.

4. Brushing Modes

The SmartSeries 4000 offers multiple brushing modes for different needs:

  • Daily Clean: Standard mode for everyday cleaning.
  • Gum Care: Gentle massage mode for gums.
  • Sensitive: Lower speed for sensitive areas.

Maintenance

1. Cleaning the Toothbrush

After each use, rinse the brush head thoroughly under running water with the handle switched on. Remove the brush head and clean the handle and brush head separately. Wipe the handle with a damp cloth. Do not immerse the charger in water.

2. Replacing Brush Heads

Dentists recommend replacing your brush head every 3-4 months, or sooner if the bristles are splayed or worn. Oral-B offers a variety of replacement brush heads compatible with your SmartSeries 4000.
