5. Setup

5.1 Battery Installation

1. Open the battery compartment cover located on the side of the flash unit.

5.2 Mounting the Speedlite

On-Camera Mounting:

1. Slide the YN660's hot shoe onto your camera's hot shoe.
2. Rotate the locking ring on the flash unit clockwise until it is securely fastened to the camera's hot shoe.
3. To remove, rotate the locking ring counter-clockwise and slide the flash off.

Off-Camera Mounting (using Mini Stand):

1. Attach the YN660 to the included mini stand by sliding the hot shoe onto the stand's mount.
2. Secure it with the locking ring.
3. Place the mini stand on a flat, stable surface or mount it onto a light stand.

6. Operation

6.1 Power On/Off

To power on the YN660, slide the power switch to the "ON" position. To power off, slide it to "OFF".

6.2 Flash Modes

Press the MODE button to cycle through available flash modes:

• M (Manual) Mode: Allows you to manually set the flash output power from 1/1 (full power) to 1/128 in 1/3 stop increments. Use the multi-directional dial to adjust the power level.
• Multi (Stroboscopic) Mode: Fires a series of rapid flashes during a single exposure. In this mode, you can set the flash output, the number of flashes, and the frequency (Hz).

6.3 Zoom Adjustment

Press the ZOOM/Fn button (short press) to enter zoom adjustment. Use the multi-directional dial to change the flash head's focal length (24mm, 28mm, 35mm, 50mm, 70mm, 80mm, 105mm, 135mm, 199mm). This helps match the flash coverage to your lens's focal length.

7.1 2.4G Wireless Master Mode

When set as a master unit, the YN660 can control other YN660, YN560 IV, and YN560 III flashes. It supports up to six independent groups (A, B, C, D, E, F).

1. Press the MODE button until "Master" or "M" with a wireless icon appears on the display.
2. Use the Gr/CH button to select the group (A-F) you wish to control.
3. Use the multi-directional dial to adjust the flash mode, power output, and zoom for the selected group.
4. Ensure all slave units are set to the corresponding 2.4G wireless slave mode and the same channel.

7.2 2.4G Wireless Slave Mode

The YN660 can act as a slave unit, receiving signals from YN660, YN560 IV, YN560-TX, RF605, RF603 (II), or RF602 transmitters. It offers 16 channels.

1. Press the MODE button until "Slave" or "S" with a wireless icon appears on the display.
2. Press the Gr/CH button to select the desired channel (1-16). This channel must match the master unit or transmitter.
3. When used with YN660, YN560 IV, or YN560-TX as transmitters, flash parameters can be adjusted remotely from the master unit.

7.3 Optical Slave Modes (S1/S2)

These modes allow the YN660 to be triggered by another flash's light pulse.

• S1 Mode: The flash will fire in sync with the first flash pulse it detects. This is suitable for manual flashes or flashes without a pre-flash.
• S2 Mode: The flash will ignore the first pre-flash from a TTL flash and fire on the second flash pulse. This is useful when using the YN660 as a slave with a camera's built-in flash or another TTL flash that emits a pre-flash.

To activate S1/S2 mode, press the MODE button until the S1 or S2 icon appears on the display.
