5. Installation Guide

Follow these steps to install your TECHO Touchless Toilet Flush Kit:

  1. Prepare the Toilet: Turn off the water supply to your toilet and flush it to drain most of the water from the tank. Remove the toilet tank lid.
  2. Attach Mounting Bracket: Position the mounting bracket on the rim of the toilet tank. Ensure the controller's wheel will be positioned directly above the toilet flapper.
  3. Install Controller Unit: Insert the bottom tab of the controller unit into the bracket slot, securing it firmly to the tank rim.
  4. Connect Flapper Chain: Attach the small clip of the flapper chain to the wheel on the controller unit. Connect the other end of the chain to the toilet's flapper. Adjust the chain length so it is straight and allows the flapper to open and close fully without obstruction.
  5. Install Batteries: Open the lid of the battery box. Insert the 4 included AA alkaline batteries, ensuring correct polarity. Close the battery box lid securely.
  6. Connect Battery Box: Insert the battery box into the designated slot on the controller unit. Connect the cable from the battery box to the controller unit.
  7. Stabilize Tank Lid (Optional): If your tank lid sits too low or interferes with the sensor, place the provided tank lid spacers on the corners of the tank rim to raise the lid slightly.
  8. Replace Tank Lid: Carefully place the toilet tank lid back onto the tank.
  9. Restore Water Supply: Turn the water supply back on and allow the tank to refill.
  10. Apply Sensor Sticker: Stick the "waving hand" symbol sticker to the top of the tank lid, directly above the sensor's location, to indicate the activation area.

6. Operation

Flushing the Toilet

To activate the flush, simply wave your hand over the sensor area indicated by the sticker on the toilet tank lid. The sensor will detect the motion and initiate a flush. The system is designed for hands-free operation, enhancing hygiene.

Adjusting Sensor Range and Flush Time

The TECHO Touchless Toilet Flush Kit allows for customization of the sensor's detection range and the flush duration. To access these adjustments, carefully open the top cover of the main controller unit (located inside the tank).

  • Sensor Range Adjustment: Locate the dial labeled "Range". Turning this dial clockwise will increase the sensor's detection range, while turning it counter-clockwise will decrease it. Adjust to your preferred sensitivity to avoid accidental flushes.
  • Flush Time Adjustment: Locate the dial labeled "Flush Time". Turning this dial clockwise will increase the duration the flapper stays open, allowing for a longer flush. Turning it counter-clockwise will shorten the flush duration. Adjust to optimize water usage based on your toilet's needs.

After making adjustments, close the controller unit cover securely. Test the flush function to ensure the settings are as desired.

7. Maintenance

Battery Replacement

The unit is powered by 4 AA alkaline batteries, which typically last approximately 4 months under normal usage. A low battery warning indicator will alert you when replacement is needed. To replace batteries:

  1. Disconnect the battery box from the controller unit.
  2. Open the battery box lid using the provided screwdriver.
  3. Remove old batteries and insert new 4 AA alkaline batteries, observing correct polarity.
  4. Close the battery box lid and reconnect it to the controller unit.

Cleaning

Clean the exterior of the sensor area on the tank lid with a soft, damp cloth. Avoid using abrasive cleaners or solvents that could damage the sensor or finish. The internal components are designed to be water-resistant (IP67 rated), but direct submersion or high-pressure water jets should be avoided.

8. Troubleshooting

  • Unit not flushing:
    • Check battery levels and replace if necessary.
    • Ensure the battery box is securely connected to the controller.
    • Verify the flapper chain is properly attached and not tangled.
    • Adjust the sensor range to a higher sensitivity.
  • Phantom flushes (flushing without activation):
    • Adjust the sensor range to a lower sensitivity.
    • Ensure no objects are consistently within the sensor's detection area.
  • Weak or incomplete flush:
    • Adjust the flush time to a longer duration.
    • Check the water level in the tank.
