Setup and Assembly

Before first use, assemble the trimmer components as follows:

1. Attach the Safety Guard: Align the safety guard with the slots on the trimmer head and secure it firmly. Ensure it clicks into place or is fastened with provided screws.
2. Install the Auxiliary Handle: Slide the auxiliary handle onto the shaft. Adjust its position for comfortable grip and lock it using the quick-release lever. The handle has 7 locking adjustments.
3. Adjust Telescopic Shaft: Extend or retract the telescopic shaft to your desired operating height. Lock it securely.
4. Install Edger Wheels (Optional): If using the edger function, ensure the dual-positioned in-line wheels are properly attached to the trimmer head.
5. Insert Battery: This is a tool-only product. Insert a fully charged WORX 20V PowerShare battery into the battery port until it clicks securely.

Operating Instructions

Trimming Operation

1. Ensure the battery is fully charged and properly inserted.
2. Hold the trimmer firmly with both hands, one on the main handle and one on the auxiliary handle.
3. Press the power button or trigger to start the trimmer.
4. Move the trimmer in a sweeping motion, keeping the cutting line parallel to the ground.
5. For optimal performance, trim only dry grass and weeds.

Edging Operation

1. To convert to edger mode, pull and turn the trimmer head 90 degrees until it locks into the edging position.
2. Position the edger wheels along the edge of your lawn or pathway.
3. Press the power button or trigger to start.
4. Guide the edger along the desired line, allowing the wheels to support and guide the tool.

Command Feed Line Advancement

The WG163.9 features an innovative Command Feed system for automatic line advancement:

• While the trimmer is running, simply press the Command Feed button located on the handle.
• The trimmer line will automatically extend to the optimal cutting length.
• Release the button once the desired line length is achieved.

Maintenance

Regular maintenance ensures the longevity and optimal performance of your WORX WG163.9 trimmer.

Spool Replacement

When the trimmer line runs out, replace the spool with a new one. Ensure you use genuine WORX replacement spools for best results.

1. Remove Battery: Always remove the battery pack before performing any maintenance.
2. Remove Spool Cap: Press the tabs on the side of the spool cap and pull it off.
3. Remove Empty Spool: Lift out the empty spool from the trimmer head.
4. Install New Spool: Place the new spool into the trimmer head, ensuring the line is threaded through the eyelet.
5. Replace Spool Cap: Snap the spool cap back into place.

Cleaning and Storage

• After each use, clean the trimmer head and guard to remove grass clippings and debris. Use a damp cloth; do not use harsh chemicals.
• Inspect the cutting line and spool for wear or damage. Replace if necessary.
• Store the trimmer in a dry, secure location, out of reach of children.
• Remove the battery pack from the tool before storing for extended periods.
