Operating Instructions

Cooking Rice

  1. Measure Rice: Use the provided measuring cup to measure the desired amount of rice. One cup of uncooked rice typically yields two cups of cooked rice.
  2. Wash Rice (Optional): Rinse the rice thoroughly under cold water until the water runs clear. This helps remove excess starch.
  3. Add Rice to Inner Pan: Place the washed rice into the non-stick inner cooking pan.
  4. Add Water: Refer to the water level markings inside the inner pan. For white rice, fill water to the corresponding line for the number of rice cups added. For brown rice, use the brown rice water lines. Adjust water slightly based on desired rice texture.
  5. Place Inner Pan: Ensure the inner pan is properly seated inside the main unit.
  6. Close Lid: Close the lid securely until it clicks into place.
  7. Select Menu: Press the "Menu Select" button repeatedly to cycle through the cooking modes (White Rice, Brown Rice, Quick Cook, Slow Cook, Oatmeal, Quinoa, Cake, Yogurt). The selected mode will be illuminated on the display.
  8. Start Cooking: Press the "Start" button. The cooking indicator light will illuminate, and the rice cooker will begin the cooking process. The microcomputer will automatically adjust cooking time and temperature.
  9. Keep Warm: Once cooking is complete, the rice cooker will automatically switch to "Keep Warm" mode. The "Keep Warm" indicator light will illuminate. Rice can be kept warm for up to 12 hours.
  10. Serve: Open the lid carefully, avoiding steam. Fluff the rice with the provided scoop and serve.

Maintenance and Care

Proper maintenance ensures the longevity and optimal performance of your Panasonic rice cooker.

  • Cleaning the Inner Pan: The non-stick inner pan should be washed with warm, soapy water after each use. Avoid abrasive cleaners or metal scouring pads that could damage the non-stick coating.
  • Cleaning the Inner Lid: The inner lid is removable for easy cleaning. Detach it, wash with warm, soapy water, rinse, and dry thoroughly before reattaching.
  • Cleaning the Main Unit: Wipe the exterior of the rice cooker with a soft, damp cloth. Do not immerse the main unit in water or any other liquid.
  • Cleaning the Steam Vent: Periodically check and clean the steam vent to ensure it is free from blockages.
  • Storage: Ensure the rice cooker is clean and dry before storing. Store in a cool, dry place.

Troubleshooting

If you encounter issues with your rice cooker, please refer to the following common troubleshooting tips:

  • Rice is too hard/dry:
    • Ensure correct water-to-rice ratio according to the inner pan markings.
    • Check if the lid is properly closed during cooking.
    • Make sure the "Start" button was pressed and the cooking cycle initiated.
  • Rice is too soft/mushy:
    • Reduce the amount of water slightly for the next batch.
    • Ensure rice was not soaked for too long before cooking.
  • Rice cooker does not turn on:
    • Check if the power cord is securely plugged into both the unit and the electrical outlet.
