- Generator exhaust contains carbon monoxide, a colorless and odorless gas that can be fatal.
- NEVER operate the generator indoors, in a garage, tunnel, well, boat, tank, manhole, or any enclosed or poorly ventilated area.
- Ensure adequate ventilation when operating outdoors, away from windows, doors, and vents.
1.2 Operating Precautions
- Always operate the generator on a level surface to prevent fuel or oil spills and ensure proper lubrication.
- Do not move the generator while it is running.
- Do not connect electrical appliances before starting the engine.
- If gasoline or engine oil spills, wipe it up completely before starting the generator.

3. Setup
Before operating the generator, ensure it is properly fueled and oiled.
3.1 Adding Engine Oil
- Place the generator on a firm, level surface.
- Locate the oil maintenance cover (Figure 3.1).
- Remove the oil maintenance cover and then the oil plug.
- Using a funnel, carefully add the specified amount of 4-stroke engine oil (SAE 10W-30) until it reaches the upper limit mark on the dipstick. The oil capacity is approximately 0.45 liters.
- Reinsert the oil plug and secure the oil maintenance cover.

3.2 Adding Fuel (Gasoline)
- Ensure the generator is turned off and cooled down.
- Unscrew the fuel tank cap (Figure 3.2).
- Carefully pour unleaded gasoline into the fuel tank, ensuring not to exceed the red level indicator inside the tank. The fuel tank capacity is 4.2 liters.
- Securely replace the fuel tank cap.

4. Operating Instructions
Follow these steps to safely start and operate your KOSHIN Inverter Generator GV-16i.
4.1 Starting the Engine
- Ensure the generator is on a level surface and has sufficient fuel and oil.
- Set the fuel cock knob to the "ON" position.
- Turn the engine switch to "ON".
- Move the choke lever to the "START" position (if the engine is cold).
- Pull the recoil starter grip firmly until the engine starts.
- Once the engine starts and runs smoothly, gradually return the choke lever to the "RUN" position.
- Allow the engine to warm up for a few minutes before connecting any electrical devices.
4.2 Connecting Electrical Devices
- Ensure the generator's output indicator light is green, indicating stable power output.
- Plug your electrical devices into the AC outlets.
- Do not exceed the rated output of 1.6kVA (1600W).
4.3 Stopping the Engine
- Disconnect all electrical devices from the generator.
- Turn the engine switch to "OFF".
- Set the fuel cock knob to the "OFF" position.

5. Maintenance

5.1 Air Filter Maintenance
- Check the air filter every 3 months or after 50 hours of operation.
- Clean or replace the air filter as needed to ensure proper engine function.
5.2 Spark Plug Maintenance
- Inspect the spark plug periodically for wear or carbon buildup.
- Clean or replace the spark plug as recommended in the full manual.
5.3 Oil Change
- Change the engine oil after the first 20 hours of operation, and then every 100 hours or every 6 months, whichever comes first.

6.1 Indicator Lights

- Oil Warning Lamp (Red): Illuminates when engine oil is low. The engine will automatically stop to prevent damage. Refill engine oil to the proper level.
- Overload Warning Lamp (Red): Illuminates when the generator is overloaded. The power output will be cut off. Reduce the load by disconnecting appliances and press the AC reset button to restore power. The engine will not stop during an overload.
