1. Introduction
Thank you for purchasing the NUX MFX-10 Multi-Effects Pedal Processor. This versatile unit is designed to provide guitarists with a comprehensive suite of effects, amplifier models, and utility features in a robust floor unit.
The MFX-10 features a total of 55 models, allowing up to nine effects to be used simultaneously. It includes 19 classic amp and pedal models with A/B channel switching, vintage 3-band passive EQ for each amp model, and 12 cabinet models optimized for either guitar amplifier or mixer/PA input. Additionally, it boasts a built-in drum machine with CD quality PCM sounds and a large, backlit 160x128 TFT LCD for clear viewing of parameters, tuner display, and more.

2. Setup
Follow these steps to set up your NUX MFX-10 for optimal performance.
2.1 Power Connection
- Ensure the MFX-10's power switch is in the OFF position.
- Connect the included DC9V power supply to the "DC 9V" input jack on the rear panel of the unit.
- Plug the power supply into a standard AC outlet.
2.2 Connecting Your Instrument and Audio Output
The MFX-10 offers various connection options for your guitar, amplifier, mixer, and headphones.
- Input: Connect your guitar or other instrument to the "INPUT" jack on the rear panel. This is a high-impedance input.
- Output to Amplifier/Mixer:
- For mono operation, connect the "LEFT/MONO" output to your guitar amplifier's input or a mixer channel.
- For stereo operation, connect both "LEFT/MONO" and "RIGHT" outputs to two separate amplifiers or two mixer channels.
- Headphones: Connect stereo headphones to the "PHONES" 1/8 inch (3.5mm) jack for private practice. Ensure the MIXER/PHONES button on the front panel is enabled for proper frequency response.
- Aux In: Connect an MP3 player or CD player to the "AUX IN" jack to play along with backing tracks. Adjust the output level of your playback device and the MFX-10's Master Level knob for proper volume balance.
- External Pedal: Connect an external expression pedal to the "EXT. PEDAL" jack to control various parameters.

3. Controls and Connections
This section details the various controls and connection points on your NUX MFX-10.
3.1 Front Panel Controls

- PRESET ▲ and PRESET ▼ Footswitches: These two footswitches are used to select presets, moving up (▲) or down (▼) through the preset list. The currently selected preset name and number are displayed on the LCD. Pressing both footswitches simultaneously will activate the tuner.
- AMP A/B Footswitch: This footswitch toggles between two amp channels for the selected preset or accesses the tuner. Each channel has individual gain settings. Pressing both PRESET and AMP A/B together will get into the tuner mode.
- Expression Pedal: The expression pedal provides real-time control of the MFX-10's volume, wah, or assigned effect parameters. The pedal's sensitivity can be adjusted in the system settings. Ensure you apply extra pressure to the toe of the pedal to activate the wah function.
- MODULE Buttons: These buttons navigate to the effects module. Press one of these buttons to step through the modules, the active module will be highlighted on the display.
- SAVE Button: By pressing the SAVE button, you can save your tone settings that you created using the panel knobs and pedals. Press SAVE, the first character of the preset name shows with a red background. At the same time, the currently selected group and preset flash. Turn the SELECT knob to choose the character you like and press the MODULE button to choose the character you want to change. Press PRESET ▲ and PRESET ▼ to choose group and preset you want to save. When everything is ok, press SAVE once more.
- TAP Button: Tapping this button sets the overall tempo, which allows you to sync the delay time to the tempo of the song. It also allows you to edit the LFO's frequency. Tap tempo is the average of the first two taps up to the last ten. Tap tempo is always shown on the display (BPM).
- Display: The 160x128 TFT LCD provides information for different functions of the selected mode. In LIVE mode, the display will show the current selected preset name. In EDIT mode, the display will show the module name. Two 7 segments LEDs show the current group and preset number.
- EDIT/EXIT Button: In LIVE mode, press this button to stop the save procedure, and return to the last mode. In LIVE and EDIT mode, press this button to switch between two modes.
- DRUM Button: The Drum function is used to turn on and off the MFX-10's built-in drum and loop machine interface.
- MIXER/PHONES Button: Press MIXER/PHONES and the MFX-10 enters the MIXER/PHONES mode. This is recommended when the MFX-10 is directly connected to a recorder, a hi-fi system, headphones or another audio device.
- GROUP Buttons: A group is switched each time when a GROUP button is pressed. The currently selected group number flashes in the LED display. At this time, tones are not yet switched, you can switch among nine groups (A-I). Press GROUP for 1 second to enter the GROUP EDIT mode. It is used to edit the MFX-10's pedals, the tone instantly switches to the sound of the patch at the currently selected group and preset.
- SELECT Knob: This knob allows you to choose effects for each module in live mode. In SAVE mode, this encoder is used to choose characters quickly. In DRUM mode, this encoder is used to enter the tempo.
- Knobs 1-4: These four knobs adjust the parameters of effect in the module.
3.2 Rear Panel Connections

- INPUT: Connect your instrument to this high-impedance input.
- LEFT/MONO and RIGHT Outputs: Connect the LEFT/MONO output to the input of your guitar amplifier (or mixer input) for mono operation. Connect the LEFT/MONO and RIGHT outputs to the inputs of 2 amplifiers (or 2 mixer channels) for stereo operation.
- PHONES: Connect stereo headphones to this 1/8 inch jack. For proper frequency response, make sure that MIXER/PHONES button is enabled when using headphones.
- AUX IN: Connect the headphone output of an MP3 or CD player to this jack. Adjust the output level of your playback device and the MFX-10’s Master Level knob for the proper volume balance.
- EXT. PEDAL: Connect two external pedals to this jack to select a group.
- DC IN: Connect the included DC9V negative tip power supply to this jack.
- POWER: Turn the MFX-10 on or off.
4. Operating the MFX-10
This section covers the basic operation of the NUX MFX-10, including preset management, effect editing, and using the built-in features.
4.1 Preset Selection and Management
- The MFX-10 comes with 72 presets: 36 factory presets and 36 user presets.
- Use the PRESET ▲ and PRESET ▼ footswitches to navigate through the presets.
- To save your customized tone settings, press the SAVE button. Follow the on-screen prompts to name your preset and select a user preset slot for storage.
4.2 Effect Editing
- Press the MODULE buttons to select the effect module you wish to edit (e.g., Distortion, Modulation, Delay, Reverb).
- Once a module is selected, use the SELECT knob to choose a specific effect within that module.
- Adjust the parameters of the selected effect using Knobs 1-4. The LCD will display the parameter names and their current values.
- The MFX-10 features 55 models in total, including 19 classic amp and pedal models with A/B channel switching and 12 cabinet models.
4.3 Looper Function
- The MFX-10 includes a 20-second phrase looper with sound-on-sound capability.
- Refer to the on-screen instructions or the full manual for detailed looper operation (record, play, overdub, undo, clear).
4.4 Drum Machine
- Press the DRUM button to activate the built-in drum machine.
- The drum machine features CD quality PCM sounds.
- Use the SELECT knob to choose drum patterns and adjust tempo.
- The TAP button can be used to set the tempo of the drum machine.
4.5 Tuner Function
- To activate the tuner, press both PRESET ▲ and PRESET ▼ footswitches simultaneously, or press the AMP A/B footswitch.
- The large LCD display will show the tuning information, making it easy to tune your instrument accurately.

6. Maintenance
Proper care and maintenance will ensure the longevity and optimal performance of your NUX MFX-10.
- Cleaning: Use a soft, dry cloth to clean the unit. Do not use abrasive cleaners, waxes, or solvents.
- Storage: When not in use for extended periods, store the MFX-10 in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures.
- Handling: Avoid dropping the unit or subjecting it to strong impacts.
- Power Supply: Always use the specified DC9V power supply. Using an incorrect power supply can damage the unit and void the warranty.
7. Troubleshooting
If you encounter issues with your NUX MFX-10, refer to the following common troubleshooting steps:
- No Power:
- Ensure the power adapter is securely connected to both the MFX-10 and a working power outlet.
- Verify the power switch on the rear panel is in the ON position.
- Check if the power outlet is functional by plugging in another device.
- No Sound:
- Check all cable connections (instrument input, amplifier/mixer output, headphones).
- Ensure the volume levels on the MFX-10, your instrument, and your amplifier/mixer are turned up.
- Verify that the correct input/output settings are selected on your amplifier/mixer.
- If using headphones, ensure the MIXER/PHONES button is engaged.
- Bypass the MFX-10 (if possible) to check if the issue lies with the pedal or other equipment in your signal chain.
- Distorted or Poor Sound Quality:
- Check for loose cable connections.
- Ensure input levels are not too high, causing clipping.
- Verify that the correct cabinet model mode (guitar amp or mixer/PA) is selected for your output device.
- Experiment with different presets and effect settings.
- Footswitches/Knobs Unresponsive:
- Restart the unit by turning it off and on again.
- Ensure no debris is obstructing the footswitches or knobs.
