The IVY Classic 11147 features Rapid Reload technology for quick utility blade changes. Ensure the sport blade is fully closed before proceeding.
- Locate the locking clip on the utility blade housing.
- Slide the locking clip backwards (away from the blade tip). This will release the current utility blade.
- Carefully remove the old utility blade. Dispose of used blades responsibly in a puncture-proof container.
- Insert a new .025" thick heavy-duty utility blade into the slot, ensuring it is properly seated.
- Release the locking clip. It should slide forward and securely hold the new blade in place. Gently tug on the blade to confirm it is locked.

5. Operating Instructions
5.1. Deploying the Sport Blade
- Ensure the utility blade is fully retracted and locked.
- Locate the thumb stud or finger groove on the sport blade.
- Carefully push or pull the blade until it fully extends and the locking mechanism engages with an audible click. Verify the blade is locked before use.
- To close, disengage the locking mechanism (typically a liner lock or frame lock, depending on the specific design) and carefully fold the blade back into the handle until it locks in the closed position.
5.2. Deploying the Utility Blade
- Ensure the sport blade is fully closed and locked.
- Push the utility blade slider forward until the blade extends to the desired cutting depth. The slider will click into place at various positions.
- To retract, push the slider backward until the blade is fully enclosed within the handle.
5.3. General Cutting Guidelines
- Always cut away from your body.
- Use a stable cutting surface.
- Apply steady, controlled pressure. Do not force the blade.
- For tough materials, make multiple shallow passes rather than one deep cut.
- Replace dull utility blades promptly to maintain cutting efficiency and safety.

6. Maintenance
6.1. Cleaning
- Hand Wash Only: Clean the knife with mild soap and water. Avoid harsh chemicals or abrasive cleaners.
- Thoroughly dry the knife immediately after washing to prevent rust, especially on the stainless steel components.
- Remove any debris or residue from the blade channels and locking mechanisms to ensure smooth operation.
6.2. Blade Care
- Keep blades sharp. A dull blade is more dangerous than a sharp one as it requires more force and can slip.
- The sport blade can be sharpened using standard knife sharpening tools.
- Utility blades are designed for replacement. Do not attempt to sharpen them; replace them when dull.
- Apply a light coat of rust-preventative oil to the blades and pivot points periodically, especially if stored in humid conditions.
6.3. Storage
Store the knife in a dry environment with both blades fully retracted and locked. Keep it away from direct moisture and corrosive materials.
7. Troubleshooting
| Problem | Possible Cause | Solution |
|---|---|---|
| Blade feels loose or wobbly | Debris in pivot, worn locking mechanism, improperly seated utility blade. | Clean the pivot area. For utility blade, ensure it is correctly inserted and the Rapid Reload clip is fully engaged. If the sport blade is loose, inspect the locking mechanism for wear. If issues persist, discontinue use and contact support. |
| Blade does not extend or retract smoothly | Dirt or debris in the track, lack of lubrication. | Clean the blade track and pivot points. Apply a small amount of light machine oil to the moving parts. |
| Difficulty cutting materials | Dull blade. | Replace the utility blade. Sharpen the sport blade if necessary. |
