2. Setup
2.1 Unboxing and Components
Before beginning, ensure all components are present:
- Nucleus Anywhere Intercom device
- Power cord
- AC adapter
- Wall mount (optional)
- Table stand (optional)
2.2 Powering On Your Device
The Nucleus device can be powered using the included DC adapter or Power over Ethernet (PoE).
- Using AC Adapter: Connect the power cord to the AC adapter, then plug the adapter into a standard electrical outlet and the power cord into the Nucleus device.
- Using Power over Ethernet (PoE): If your network supports PoE, connect an Ethernet cable from your PoE-enabled network switch or injector directly to the Nucleus device's Ethernet port. If using standard Ethernet without PoE, you will still need to use the AC adapter for power.

2.3 Network Connection
The Nucleus device requires an internet connection to function. It supports Wi-Fi, Ethernet, or Power over Ethernet.
- Wi-Fi: Upon first power-on, the device will guide you through connecting to your home Wi-Fi network. Follow the on-screen prompts to select your network and enter the password.
- Ethernet: If using a wired connection, plug an Ethernet cable into the device's Ethernet port. The device should automatically detect and connect to the network.
Once connected, follow the on-screen instructions to complete the initial setup, including creating or logging into your Nucleus account and configuring your device settings.
3. Operation
3.1 Voice-Activated Communication with Alexa
The Nucleus Intercom integrates with Amazon Alexa for voice-activated communication and smart home control. To initiate a call or use Alexa features:
- Making Calls: Simply say, "Alexa, ask Nucleus to call [Room Name]" or "Alexa, ask Nucleus to call [Contact Name]".
- Using Alexa Features: Tap the Alexa button on the screen to activate Alexa, then speak your command (e.g., "Alexa, play music," "Alexa, what's the weather?").
Note: The Alexa Voice Service is available in the US only. Nucleus does not currently support Spotify and Pandora with Alexa.

3.2 Mobile Application Connectivity
Stay connected to your home from anywhere using the free Nucleus mobile application.
- Download: Search for "Nucleus" in your device's app store.
- Compatibility: The companion mobile app is compatible with iPhone 5s or later and Android 5 or later.
- Features: Use the app to check in with your home, make calls to your Nucleus devices, and manage settings remotely.

3.3 Managing Calls
During a call, the screen will display options such as:
- Mute: Mute your microphone.
- End Call: Disconnect the call.
- Add: Add another participant to the call.
The touch screen allows for easy navigation and control of calls and device settings.
4. Maintenance
4.1 Cleaning the Device
To maintain optimal performance and appearance:
- Gently wipe the screen and exterior surfaces with a soft, lint-free cloth.
- Do not use abrasive cleaners, solvents, or aerosol sprays, as these can damage the device.
- Ensure the device is powered off and unplugged before cleaning.
4.2 Software Updates
The Nucleus device periodically receives software updates to improve functionality, add new features, and enhance security. Ensure your device is connected to the internet to receive these updates automatically. You may be prompted to approve an update or the device may update during periods of inactivity.
5. Troubleshooting
5.1 No Power
- Check that the power cord is securely connected to both the device and the power outlet/AC adapter.
- Verify the power outlet is functional by plugging in another device.
- If using PoE, ensure your Ethernet connection is active and your network equipment supports PoE.
5.2 No Internet Connection
- Wi-Fi: Go to the device's settings and re-select your Wi-Fi network, re-entering the password if necessary. Ensure your Wi-Fi router is on and functioning.
- Ethernet: Check the Ethernet cable connection at both ends. Try a different Ethernet cable if available.
- Restart your router and modem.
5.3 Alexa Not Responding
- Ensure the device has an active internet connection.
- Tap the Alexa button on the screen to manually activate Alexa.
- Speak clearly and ensure there is no excessive background noise.
- Restart the Nucleus device by unplugging it for 10 seconds and plugging it back in.
5.4 Call Quality Issues
- Ensure both devices involved in the call have a stable and strong internet connection.
- Reduce background noise for clearer audio.
- Check the device's camera and microphone for any obstructions.
