4. Safety Instructions

6. Operating Instructions
- Prepare the Workpiece: Ensure the components and PCB pads to be soldered are clean and free of dirt or grease.
- Apply Heat: Place the hot, tinned tip of the soldering iron onto both the component lead and the PCB pad simultaneously. Hold it there for a few seconds to allow both surfaces to heat up.
- Apply Solder: Once the joint is hot enough, touch the solder wire to the junction of the component lead and the PCB pad, not directly to the soldering iron tip. The solder should melt and flow smoothly around the joint, forming a shiny, cone-shaped connection.
- Remove Solder and Iron: Once enough solder has flowed, remove the solder wire first, then remove the soldering iron.
- Allow to Cool: Do not move the component until the solder has solidified (usually a few seconds). A good solder joint will appear shiny and smooth.
- Clean Tip: Periodically clean the tip on a damp sponge or brass wool during operation to remove excess solder and oxidation.
7. Maintenance
- Tip Cleaning: Regularly clean the soldering tip using a damp sponge or brass wool. This removes oxidized solder and helps maintain efficient heat transfer. Always re-tin the tip after cleaning.
