Setup
Before using your Rockler 45 Degree Miter Sled, ensure it fits securely in your table saw's miter slot. The sled is designed to fit standard 3/8" x 3/4" miter slots.
Adjusting Miter Track Fit:
- Locate the nylon set screws on the miter sled bar.
- Using a 7/64" hex wrench (not included), advance the nylon set screws until you achieve a smooth, no-slop fit in your saw’s miter track. This ensures stability and accuracy during cuts.

Clamping Workpieces:
The sled base includes two through slots that allow you to securely clamp moldings or other workpieces directly to the table saw surface. This provides additional stability, especially for delicate or long pieces.

Operating Instructions
The Rockler 45 Degree Miter Sled simplifies cutting perfect 90-degree miter joints by focusing on the geometry of the cuts rather than relying on two perfectly calibrated 45-degree cuts from your saw's miter gauge.
The Principle of Operation:
The sled's guide faces meet at exactly 90 degrees. This provides a precise reference angle for the two adjoining cuts. By cutting one piece on the leading face and the other on the trailing face, you ensure that the two resulting angles will always add up to a perfect 90-degree joint, regardless of minor inaccuracies in your saw's miter gauge setting.

Cutting Miter Joints:
- Place the workpiece against one of the sled's guide faces. Ensure it is firmly seated.
- Secure the workpiece using clamps if desired, utilizing the through slots in the sled base.
- Carefully push the sled and workpiece through the saw blade to make the first cut.
- For the second piece of the joint, place it against the opposite guide face of the sled.
- Repeat the cutting process.
- When the two pieces are brought together, they will form a perfect 90-degree miter joint.

Pro Tip: Enhanced Stability
For even greater stability and to prevent workpiece slippage, consider applying a strip of self-adhesive sandpaper to each of the sled's fence faces. This provides additional grip for both clamped and handheld stock.

Maintenance
To ensure the longevity and continued accuracy of your Rockler 45 Degree Miter Sled, follow these simple maintenance guidelines:
- Cleaning: After each use, wipe down the sled with a dry cloth to remove sawdust and debris. Avoid using harsh chemicals that could damage the polycarbonate material.
- Storage: Store the miter sled in a clean, dry place away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures.
- Inspection: Periodically inspect the nylon set screws and the sled's guide faces for any signs of wear or damage. Replace components as needed to maintain optimal performance.
Troubleshooting
If you encounter issues while using your Rockler 45 Degree Miter Sled, consider the following common solutions:
- Loose Fit in Miter Slot: If the sled feels wobbly in the miter slot, re-adjust the nylon set screws using a 7/64" hex wrench until a snug fit is achieved.
- Inaccurate Joints: Ensure your workpieces are firmly seated against the sled's guide faces and properly clamped. Verify that you are cutting one piece on the leading face and the other on the trailing face as instructed.
- Workpiece Slippage: If workpieces are slipping during cuts, ensure they are securely clamped. Consider applying self-adhesive sandpaper to the sled's fence faces for increased grip.
