Installation

The Honeywell Home RLV540A thermostat features a 2-wire non-polarized connection for straightforward installation. Please follow these steps carefully:

  1. Turn off power: Locate the circuit breaker or fuse for your heating system and turn off the power. Verify that the power is off before proceeding.
  2. Remove old thermostat: Carefully remove your existing thermostat from the wall. Disconnect the wires, noting their connections if necessary (though RLV540A is non-polarized).
  3. Mount new thermostat: Mount the RLV540A thermostat to a standard electrical box.
  4. Connect wiring: Connect the two thermostat wires to the heating system wires. Polarity is not a concern with this model. Ensure connections are secure.
  5. Secure thermostat: Secure the thermostat to the wall box.
  6. Restore power: Once installation is complete and all connections are secure, restore power at the circuit breaker.

The RLV540A is compatible with electric baseboard heaters, convectors, and fan-forced heaters.
