1. Safety Information
WARNING: To prevent serious injury and property damage, always read and understand all manufacturer's instructions before operating this spot welder. Keep this manual for future reference.
- General Safety: Keep out of reach of children. Do not use near oxygen or welding gases. Keep head and face clear of welding operations.
- Arc Rays: ARC RAYS can injure eyes and burn skin. Always wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE), including welding helmet with proper shade lens, gloves, and protective clothing.
- Electric Shock: ELECTRIC SHOCK CAN KILL. Ensure the unit is properly grounded. Do not touch energized parts. Turn off and disconnect power supply before servicing. If you experience electric shock, seek immediate medical attention.
- Fire Hazards: ARC AND HOT SLAG can cause fire. Clear away all flammable materials from the work area. Keep an ABC-type fire extinguisher accessible.
- Fumes and Gases: Fumes and gases can be hazardous to your health. Ensure adequate ventilation in the work area.

3. Components and Parts
The spot welder includes the main unit, a welding rod (integrated into the tips), and this user manual. Key components are detailed below:
- Main Body: Houses the electrical components and transformer.
- Welding Arms/Tongs: The copper arms that hold the welding tips.
- Welding Tips: Replaceable copper electrodes that make contact with the workpiece.
- Operating Lever: Used to apply pressure and initiate the weld cycle.
- Handle: For carrying and positioning the unit.

4. Setup
4.1 Power Connection (220V)
This unit operates on 220V power. The spot welder comes with a power cord terminated in spade lugs, not a pre-installed plug. You will need to wire an appropriate 220V plug (not included) to the cord before use. Consult a qualified electrician if you are unsure about this process.
4.2 Welding Tip Installation and Alignment
- Ensure the spot welder is disconnected from the power source.
- Twist the existing tips off if they are installed or need replacement.
- Screw on the new welding tips firmly.
- To align the tongs (welding arms), loosen the four bolts (two clusters, one on top and one on bottom) that secure the arms. Adjust the arms so the tips meet precisely when the lever is engaged. Note that some units may have a thin sleeve wedging the tong in place, which might require careful extraction if the tong does not budge easily.
- Tighten the four bolts securely once alignment is achieved.
5. Operating Instructions
5.1 Workpiece Preparation
For optimal weld quality, ensure that all four surfaces (front and back of both pieces of sheet metal) are clean and free from rust, paint, oil, or other contaminants.
5.2 Welding Procedure
- Position the metal sheets to be welded between the welding tips.
- Pull the operating lever to bring the tips together and apply firm pressure to the workpiece. The unit is designed to provide strong clamping pressure.
- Once pressure is applied, press down on the lever to initiate the welding cycle.
- Hold the lever down for the required duration. For general use, a weld time of 1-3 seconds is often sufficient for sheet metal. Avoid holding the lever down for more than 5 seconds continuously.
- Release the lever to complete the weld.
Duty Cycle: To prevent overheating and ensure longevity, adhere to a duty cycle of no more than 5 seconds on followed by 5 seconds off. Allow the unit to cool down during prolonged use.
6. Maintenance
6.1 Welding Tip Replacement
Welding tips are consumable parts and will wear down over time. Replace tips when they become pitted, flattened, or no longer produce consistent welds. Refer to Section 4.2 for replacement instructions.
6.2 Cleaning and Storage
- Ensure the unit is unplugged and cool before cleaning.
- Wipe down the exterior with a clean, dry cloth.
- Store the spot welder in a dry, clean environment, away from excessive dust and moisture.
7. Troubleshooting
| Problem | Possible Cause | Solution |
|---|---|---|
| Weak or inconsistent welds | Dirty workpiece surfaces; Worn or misaligned welding tips; Insufficient weld time; Incorrect pressure. | Clean workpiece thoroughly; Replace or align tips; Increase weld time slightly (within duty cycle limits); Ensure firm pressure is applied. |
| Switch gets stuck in 'on' position | Mechanical issue with the lever mechanism. | Carefully inspect the lever mechanism for obstructions or damage. If the issue persists, discontinue use and contact customer support. |
| Unit does not power on | No power supply; Improper wiring of plug; Internal fault. | Check power outlet and circuit breaker; Verify plug wiring (consult electrician); If still no power, contact customer support. |
