1. Introduction
This manual provides instructions for the installation, operation, and maintenance of the Aqua Computer Airplex Radical 4/280 Aluminium Slats radiator. This product is designed for use in high-performance liquid cooling systems for computers, offering efficient heat dissipation.
The Airplex Radical series radiators are constructed without welding, ensuring no welding residues come into contact with the coolant. The coolant path is designed to interact only with seals, Delrin, copper, and stainless steel components.
2. Safety Information
- Always disconnect power from your computer system before installing or performing maintenance on any components.
- Handle the radiator with care to avoid damaging the fins or connection ports.
- Ensure all fittings and connections in your liquid cooling loop are securely tightened to prevent leaks.
- Use only coolants specifically designed for computer liquid cooling systems.
- Perform a leak test on your entire liquid cooling system before powering on your computer.
- Keep the product away from children and pets.
3. Package Contents
Please verify that all components are present in the package:
- Aqua Computer Airplex Radical 4/280 Radiator
- Threaded inserts for fan mounting (for one side of the radiator)
- Mounting screws (quantity may vary based on model)
Note: Additional threaded inserts for the second side of the radiator are available separately if required.
4. Setup and Installation
4.1. Fan Installation
The Airplex Radical radiator features slide rails for threaded inserts, simplifying fan installation. The included nickel-plated brass inserts protrude into the fan mounting holes.
- Align the threaded inserts with the fan mounting holes on the radiator's slide rails.
- Slide the inserts into position. Small notches in the rails will lock them.
- Place your 140mm fans (not included) onto the radiator, aligning their mounting holes with the threaded inserts.
- Secure the fans using appropriate screws (typically M3 or M4, depending on fan type) through the fan frame and into the threaded inserts. Do not overtighten.
- If installing the radiator without fans, the inserts can be installed upside-down to create a nearly flat surface, preventing a gap between the radiator and the PC case.

4.2. Radiator Mounting
Mount the radiator within your computer case using the appropriate mounting points. Ensure adequate airflow for optimal cooling performance.
- Identify suitable mounting locations in your PC case (e.g., front, top, or rear fan mounts).
- Secure the radiator to the case using the provided mounting screws. Ensure the radiator is stable and does not obstruct other components.

4.3. Liquid Loop Integration
Integrate the radiator into your custom liquid cooling loop. The radiator features standard G1/4" threads for fittings (fittings not included).
- Install appropriate G1/4" fittings into the radiator ports.
- Connect tubing from your pump/reservoir and other cooling components (e.g., CPU/GPU blocks) to the radiator.
- Ensure all connections are tight and secure.
- Fill the loop with coolant and perform a leak test for at least 24 hours before powering on your system.
5. Operating Instructions
Once the liquid cooling system is fully assembled, leak-tested, and filled with coolant, you can power on your computer. The radiator will passively dissipate heat from the coolant as it flows through its channels, aided by the attached fans.
- Fan Control: Manage fan speeds via your motherboard's BIOS/UEFI settings or dedicated fan controller software to balance cooling performance and noise levels.
- Temperature Monitoring: Regularly monitor coolant and component temperatures using system monitoring software to ensure optimal performance and detect potential issues.
- Coolant Compatibility: Use only compatible coolants to prevent corrosion or material degradation within your loop. The radiator's internal components are compatible with Delrin, copper, and stainless steel.
6. Maintenance
Regular maintenance helps ensure the longevity and efficiency of your liquid cooling system.
- Dust Removal: Periodically clean dust from the radiator fins and fans using compressed air or a soft brush. Excessive dust buildup can significantly reduce cooling performance.
- Coolant Replacement: Follow the recommendations of your coolant manufacturer for replacement intervals, typically every 6-12 months.
- System Inspection: Regularly inspect tubing, fittings, and other components for signs of wear, leaks, or coolant discoloration.
7. Troubleshooting
If you encounter issues with your liquid cooling system, consider the following common troubleshooting steps:
- High Temperatures:
- Check fan operation and ensure they are spinning at appropriate speeds.
- Clean dust from radiator fins.
- Verify pump operation and coolant flow.
- Ensure there are no air bubbles trapped in the loop.
- Leaks:
- Immediately power off the system.
- Inspect all fittings and connections for looseness.
- Tighten any loose fittings. If a component is damaged, replace it.
- Unusual Noises:
- Check fans for obstructions or loose mounting.
- Listen for pump noises; air in the loop can cause gurgling sounds.
