1. Introduction
This manual provides detailed instructions for the operation and maintenance of your Sangean DT-400W Compact Weather Alert Digital Tuning AM/FM Radio. This portable radio is designed to provide access to AM/FM broadcasts and critical NOAA Weather Alert emergency channels. Please read this manual thoroughly before using the device to ensure proper function and longevity.

2. Product Features
- AM/FM Digital Tuner: Provides access to a wide range of radio broadcasts.
- NOAA Weather Alert Emergency Channel: Monitors all 7 NOAA weather channels and emits a loud audible tone during extreme weather conditions or emergencies.
- 19 Station Preset Memory: Allows storage of favorite AM/FM stations for quick access.

3. Setup
3.1 Battery Installation
The Sangean DT-400W radio operates on two (2) AA batteries.
- Locate the battery compartment cover on the back of the radio.
- Slide the cover downwards or press the release tab (if present) to open the compartment.
- Insert two AA batteries, ensuring the correct polarity (+ and -) as indicated inside the compartment.
- Replace the battery compartment cover until it clicks securely into place.

3.2 Initial Power On
After installing batteries, press the POWER button (usually located on the top or front panel) to turn on the radio. The LCD display will illuminate.
4. Operating Instructions
4.1 Power On/Off and Volume Control
- To turn the radio ON or OFF, press the POWER button.
- Adjust the volume using the VOL (Volume) dial or buttons, typically located on the top or side of the unit.
4.2 AM/FM Tuning
- Press the BAND button to switch between AM and FM bands. The selected band will be displayed on the LCD.
- Use the TUNING UP (▲) or TUNING DOWN (▼) buttons to manually adjust the frequency.
- For automatic station seeking, press and hold the TUNING UP or TUNING DOWN button. The radio will scan and stop at the next strong station.

4.3 Setting and Accessing Presets
The radio allows you to store up to 19 favorite stations (a mix of AM and FM).
- Tune to the desired station using the AM/FM tuning method.
- Press and hold the MEMO button until the preset number flashes on the display.
- Use the TUNING UP or TUNING DOWN buttons to select the desired preset number (1-19).
- Press MEMO again to confirm and save the station.
- To recall a saved station, press the MY FAVORITE button repeatedly to cycle through your stored presets.
4.4 Weather Alert Function (WX)
The DT-400W can receive all 7 NOAA weather channels and activate an alert during emergencies.
- Press the WX button to switch to the Weather Band.
- Use the TUNING UP or TUNING DOWN buttons to select one of the 7 NOAA weather channels.
- To enable the Weather Alert function, ensure the radio is in WX mode or that the alert monitor is active (even if listening to AM/FM). The radio will sound a loud siren if an emergency alert is broadcast on the selected NOAA channel. The "ALERT" indicator on the display will illuminate.
- To disable the alert siren once it has activated, press any button or turn off the radio.
4.5 Lock Switch
The Lock Switch prevents accidental button presses, which is useful when carrying the radio in a pocket or bag.
- Locate the LOCK switch on the side of the radio.
- Slide the switch to the LOCK position (often indicated by a key icon) to disable all buttons.
- Slide the switch back to the UNLOCKED position to resume normal operation.
4.6 Auto Shutoff
The radio features an optional 90-minute auto shutoff function to conserve battery power. Refer to the full product manual for specific instructions on how to activate or deactivate this feature, as it may involve a combination of button presses.
4.7 Earphone Jack
Connect standard 3.5mm earphones to the earphone jack for private listening. When earphones are connected, the built-in speaker will be muted.
5. Maintenance
- Cleaning: Wipe the radio with a soft, damp cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents.
- Battery Care: Remove batteries if the radio will not be used for an extended period to prevent leakage. Replace old batteries promptly.
- Storage: Store the radio in a dry place, away from extreme temperatures and direct sunlight.
6. Troubleshooting
